Thanks Matt for the help. Also on the same day Volsia County Enviromental Management is sponsoring the annual St.Johns River cleanup.Check this site out and maybe Matt can bring it overhttp://65.77.232.5/cleanup/stjohns.htm I plan to register for the clean up on the web site ( real easy),start the poker run at volusia bar ,pickup trash to nine mile point ,get my poker run ticket, River cleanup t shirt and eat some fantastic bbq and then complete the poker run.

Sorry I need to mention that the run is open to all and was also designed for kickerboats as well .airboats are handy for the lake cleaning and kicker boats for the river cleanup.

Happy May 1st Everyone,

Only 12 more days until the St. Johns River Cleanup which will take place May 13th during National River Cleanup Week.

If you plan to register and have not done so yet, please do so by 5:00PM May 8th. Pre registration is necessary for us to have enough t-shirts, bags, gloves, and food for those of us who will eat at one of our luncheon sites.

To register, go to http://volusia.org/cleanup/ and follow the link.

See you at the river!

Tom

I sent Tom Carey a note thanking him for the fun day on the water for the cleanup, food, etc. I mentioned our trailer's breakdown on the way to the ramp.

Here is a reply I just got from him.... it has the stats of the cleanup...

Hi Matt,

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply - my crew and I unfortunately have to do the cleanup after the cleanup - sort shirts, put away supplies, submit reports, etc.

I can tell you that 471 people pulled 15.54 tons out of the St. Johns River. Ninemile Point accounted for 4-tons of this total with 69 people participating at that site.

Lake County AB beat Seminole. Seminole had 3.5 tons. Lake had the advantage in airboats with 31 while Seminole had 13 airboats.

We wont know how things went nationally for another month or so. It is still National River Cleanup Week through this Sunday.

I'm glad you participated - maybe you should win the "most-determined" award for your persistence to get on the river!

Tom

If there was such an award - it'd have to go to Stan and Cntry, along with Badger, Michael, and Merle. All of whom went out of their way to lend us a hand. Cntry hauled our boat the last couple miles to the river on his trailer, and Stan hauled our trailer on his trailer. Then both hauled our load over to Stan's house to await the day I get a chance for repairs. If you add the weight of our trailer & boat, those two "hauled" a LOT of trash!!!! LOL

Thanks again guys, and thanks to all who participated.

Mood your welcome. Stan & I don't need any awards LOL glad we could help but wish we hadn't needed too. We all been in that same spot or else we all will be there one of these das if we do this long enough. I think I put more miles on my trailer than most do and I have burnt up several bearings in my day.

Glad to see we beat seminole club I beleive there was a little side bet going on that one. But the important thing is all that trash outta the river and lakes. This has been a busy cleanup season for me this year.

Ya'll are welcome anytime thanks

I want to be the first from Seminole County Club to say well done Lake County,Hopefully next year I will get a little better turn out.But my hats off to all that came out and supported Seminole County in their efforts, we had a great day. :D

Look at the numbers.... Seminole County kicked butt PER BOAT in weight. Nearly as much with half the boats. Way to go Seminole County!

any way you slice it.... 15 TONS of trash out of the river. A banner day for the St. John's fer sure.

:)
