Went up to Aurthur's to pickup a 500 cadi for Sandy's boat. She finally decided to make the jump from her 425 cadi.Aurthur's shop is on the lake so I took the advantage to take my boat to the lake and try her out with the fuel tank moved back six inches.Cheryl and I drooped the boat in the water and headed to the cattails, man the fog had laid in .we could see about 50 yards.I eased along the shore thinkin on headin to the pasture. Before I knew it we were at the river,so we headed on to the mouth of Juniper were we sat listened to the bass fishers BS in the fog. After about twenty minutes we proceeded back to Blue creek boat ramp ,I had heard a boat come down the river and shut down about two miles away .It sounded pretty loud .
Pulled up to the ramp and we met up to Pretston. He had come down the river and was waitin for the fog to lift.He figured he try out his new ride,Alumitech hull ,Pop Dees stainless riggin ,Water Thunder motor ,franklin belt drive and a 3 blade Whirlwind prop.I didn't get a chance to see it run but it sure looked good.
While we were at the ramp a feller launch his boat ,I had known the boat to belong to George Bryant cept there was a new driver Preston said George didn't like the boat as it was to heavy ,a 14'Diamond Back deck boat ,Water Thunder motor ,2.68 and some super wides .I remember last year George and Merl ( 15' Diamoned Back ,383 GM crate motor ,2.38 rotater,Aluminum rigging and 2 stacked five warp drive prop)lined there boats up After 400 foot Merl had him by 8 boats,Seems George's boat pulls out of the hole like a slug.
After we watched the deck boat roar off Cheryl and I headed to the pasture. We pulled up on the pasture and bs,ed with Ray .He and I were both suprised to see each other .Seems he had'nt had his boat out since last Fourth of July.BY the time we finished catchin up on old busines the fog had lifted .Cheryl and I headed for the car seat to see if the old gal could run dry sand.
Got to the car seat and had no trouble with the damp sand.Crawled around like a big lizard at 3500 rpm.Shut down ,Cheryl needed to check out the senery. Heard a Boat coming it was the Diamond Back Thunder boat easin along the dry sand got in to the cord grass and after a bunch of wigglin got his self out ,caught myself thinkin of brewster.
We headed back to Aurthur's dropped Cheryl and the dog off and proceded to see how the boat ran empty. The old boat handles good, jumps out the hole, turns good under power not a lot of crow hop,and does 180's right now.Did'nt want to but we had to call it a day .We were off the water by 1:00 headed to the house.
