LAKE HARNEY VOTED FOR NEW WATER TREATMENT PLANT

ANYBODY HEARS ABOUT THIS, supposely there gonna set up a water treatment plant at Lake Harney and suck the river water out and turn it into drinking water. Talk about the river being DRY. Good luck getting any water to Jaxonville.
Is this true, anyone got the facts.
Also heard Yarbough Ranch sold everything to the state(proprty north of econ river)
And Yarbough gets to keep 1200 acres and subdivide it and devolp it.

Also Miami corporation (farmington) is waiting for the market to pick up and is gonna sella nd subdivide for devolpment. and Farmton is real close to harney.

Sounds like to me if Lk Harney area gets fresh water the devolpers will be all over geneva and osteen fl. Then our airboat rite are gonna be on the bullseye next.

any info would help
thanx

I do know that the City of JAX has publically stated that it will filing lawsuits to any new WTP along the Upper St John for just that reason.

Independence Farm Estate have saltwater intrusion on their wells I've heard. Lake Harney Woods next door to the west is starting to see that too.

It's kind of hard to put in development if there is no water. Stop the treatment plant - and you'll stop the development.

But try telling that to the people in Independence Farms with elaborate rainwater catchment systems and expensive R/O systems. A treatment plant would be an easy sell to them.

Something here reminds me of a snake in a tree - tempting Eve.....

Follow the money. A possible scenario is the the Yarbough people have cut a deal for a WTP to provide water for the 1200 acres of
development, and get it paid for with your tax dollars.

Smells like 3 day old bait to me.

Mood this is in your backyard, is this the 1st you have heard of it

Yeah, First I've heard of it. But then again - I only moved here 6 months ago - for 20 years before that I just trailered my boats out from downtown o-town. Heck, I still got half my stuff at my old house back in downtown Orlando because I havn't built a pole barn here yet. (anyone got some trusses they can part with?)

Olf's right - follow the money on any of these deals.

Water war is going to be our demise? I'm all for NEWS headlines about water wars! It could help keep more people from moving in here. And just might help get some to move away.

10-4, on that. hopefully geneva 0550 or skeeter can chime in with some info.
this thing goes in say goodbye to any lk harney races ever

Saw on the news tonight that Seminole County was denied a permit for a water treatment plant that was to draw water from the St Johns River. They did not say the location.

I have not been on in some time but what a time to come in. This is what I know from work and other areas that I have looked in to. The state did buy the Yarbrough’s ranch and did leave them 1200 acres with the rights to develop it. They then sold this to Seminole county and that cut the developers out. The state also purchased all the homes just south of the Yarbrough’s ranch in that small development and are letting the residents live there but when they pass away then the state will come in and remove the house till they are all removed. They are also talking about turning part of the ranch into more property for killbee management area. As for the water treatment plant As for the water plant permit it failed with flying colors, but you know government!@#$%^
St. Johns already stepped in and will not let any developer drill any large wells around the river for development to share. There has developers who have asked the existing well owners to let them up grade and let them us the wells and they were turned down do to if the well went dry they could not replace it.

is this part of the Joshua Creek land deal that the state , orange and Seminole county put together?

http://www.dep.state.fl.us/secretary/news/2006/10/1003_01.htm

They also bought the property behind b.s hill.Seminole sherriff drove up in an F-350 while we were parked there several weeks ago

That was all part of the yarough ranch deal and it is and will be patrolled very well now. With all the ranch to the river being state forest now that means they will start enforcing the no alcohol in state forest laws so watch out!

What would determine where the forest ends at the river? Would it be behind the high water mark? I was at the seminole county sherriffs hangar with my sons cub scout troop last night and asked one of the officers. He wasn't sure how they would determine the boundaries and that it might take a while to figure it all out.

About a month ago there was a group of guys in canoes and kicker boats with surveying eqip. They where getting information for the boundaries. They had some mighty good stuff. I asked the guy and he said they all where getting information from GPS as well.

You will know where the boundary is , cause , they will stick a small FXXXing sign there. I think navigational water ends at HWY 46. I have spent about 8 hrs trying to get a answer about how the land will be used. Just keep getting jacked around.

A lot at stake. They have horse trails and bike trails west of Snow hill road. Would be nice to get some hunting end on the east side of that, or to be able to use full size off road vehicles.

They have been very hush-hush about the land.

I twould be great to get some airboating rites and huntin rites. Im glad the state is buying it all up. Hopefully we will get some use as airboaters and not be put out.
