Lake O Duck Report

Duck hunting?aint that what Yankees hunt?Southern boys hunt Deer, hogs, turkeys, gators.not no stinkin duck!

No ducks. None. Zip. Nada. Looked for them too. I ran from Fisheating Creek to the spoil islands and then back into where the Monkey box used to be. Back out and around and went south towards Clewiston about a mile past Cochrans pass. The water hasn't come back up much, although Fisheating Creek is flowing again. There is no place for them to be except in the open. And up in the bay towards Monkey box it is still only from a couple of inches to a foot.

The hydrilla is all over where sandy bottom is/was. The whole west side of the Lake is gonna be.
We caught some shellcrackers off beds where we were past Cochrans. The bottom is there was covered with hydrilla.

 I’m no duck hunter but will tell you the ducks have not made to the lake every year they stop off at the Kissimmee River in September I know because I see them when I go scooting for deer to hunting. Check out boney marsh, oak creek, and no name slough by the way you won't be the only one in there hunting duck’s. It's opening day of archery season this Saturday you will hear a lot of shooting because the teal are always in their. :P

BWright is right. Seen a bunch in Oak Creek where the river opens into it. Looked like all mottles though. All hydrilla.

hey Tony them yankees can't duck hunt those critters they are to small and move to fast for the yanks so they have to stick with the bigger targets

dblj006 When you were up in fisheating creek did you make it past the fwc camp how far back can you make it? Did you see any game? Thanks been itchin to go but last time I didnt even make it 200 yards past fwc and she dried up!

I went to the bridge at 78 and turned around. I don't have the permit to go into the other side. I'm not into getting hassled by the stormtroopers.
I saw a deer on Currie island though. Small one but she was there.

Deuce, if your running out of sportsmans going east, the canal splits on the left side...kind of an island then goes back to a canal again. Just past that when the water was LOW, you could see an old pc of farm equipment sticking out of the ground..it has long sharp blades sticking up. That is where inshore hit the pole. Last time I went out, I ran some circles around that old pc of equipment so people could see it. Those fence posts run all inside curry island, and once you see or figure out the old layout you'll be able to see where not to run. I am going to make it a point to mark those old blades....grass has covered much of the hazards. BTW, across the canal on the south side another row of posts exist...they extend past the old spoil islands.

Dang rich with that description Id think you were ridin with me when I had my lil spill. I didnt notice the blades but their is something steel comin outta the ground cuz i almost hit that too. As for the permit It was easy to obtain and yeah you drive right past the mans house and usually get stopped but Its gorgeous back there. And Game everywhere. Rich what was your biggest gator outo Okeechobee?

Duece, was that you I saw heading up to Moore Haven ditch?I was in the grass riding with my son. The trails are cool to ride. When you get up close to where the ditch starts/ends headed west on the right there are the stumps of 4 or 5 poles sticking out. Thats gonna be a bad one when the water comes up a little more.

Joe, call me next time your in town...we went out both nights this weekend. Rode up on a couple decent gators but nothing huge. My buddy stuck an 11.6..... it's been slow since then.

That was me. I've got two. My brother usually rides the green boat. We'll usually ride together but my bro slept in.

Another foot or two we'll be able to go out the hay fields (monkey box) or JUST DO SOME RIDING ! SEE YALL LATER ,EVERYONE KEEP UP THE GREAT PICS AND STORIES !!!!!!!!!!!! :D
