The Lake Park Marsh was originally named for Lake Park Drive, which is now called Northlake. It is now referred to as the Water Catchment Area and officially as Grassy Waters Preserve.
The Lake Park Marsh was originally bought (or "obtained"...) by Henry Flagler and used to supply water to Palm Beach. The West Palm Beach Water Catchment Area (Catchment Area) was created in 1967 and is owned by the City of West Palm Beach water utilities and still serves as the primary source of potable water for the cities of West Palm and Palm Beach Island (Mar A Lago included).
Lately they added in injecting treated sewage into one side and drinking water out of the other, and they complained about airboats ruining things :banghead: :banghead:
The following link provides some good history. It claims that airboat camps that they could find were taken out in the 50's, but Crackers are nothing if not resilient (see below).

So, onto the good stuff. As much as the screen name "Canefan", chaps my ass, any fan of the Stossel Boat is good with me. Since the statues of limitations are well past, I decided to edit some of my archives. Ole Onion was known for totting around a giant VHS camera in the woods, they weren't like our latest Go Pro, they took 2 hands, so all of his old video is from the rider's seat.
Grab some beer and popcorn for a 20-minute Lake Park Marsh ride with Frank & Onion! Hopefully WPB will come up with a better drinking water source in the near future and we can argue our way back into this gorgeous part of Florida.
P.S., you will see some reasons why Stossel / Palm Beach hull boats are so narrow and tippy, Car Motor Barge pilots have to tie up and wade to camp :stirpot:
