Letter of Thanks

MrTodd2U

Well-known member
I was wondering... Does southernairboat.com have official letter head? I would like to see a letter of thanks sent to a resturant that donated for the 12-29-07 event. Would also like to see them sent to all involved in Buds boat rebuild. Maybe something nice that could be framed and hung on the wall. Who is the contact for that?

Todd

I am sending letters along with a CD of all the pictures I took at both events to Diamondback, Sensenich and Mike Thurmond

I'm still in awe at the overall event.
In awe regarding everyone's first class behavior,
JohnC, Sniper, Bishop, Dave Markett, and way too many to name! Olf, Gold, Cowboy, Airduds, etc.
I'm in awe about everyone who donated cash, time, and love to this event.
I'm in awe about the way it brought the airboating community together.
I'm in awe about the beautiful facilities that AAoF has and how cool their members are.
I'm in awe about how our little event revived Bud and put a gleem in his eyes.
I'm in awe that this whole ordeal served as a vehicle and excuse for Bud to be re-united with family members he has not seen in years.
I'm in awe that us little ol' sportsmen and recreational boaters were able to bring peace and closure for so many victims who suffered that night.

This stuff just don't happen every day!

And in awe that there was apparently some lame effort to belittle the whole thing, and no one really seems to care. Way to take the High Road AIRBOATERS!

There are so many who deserve thanks here - I'm in awe about that number!

:)

 This is definitely something that needs to be followed up on.

The FAA has a real nice letterhead and we can put together some think you letter.

The FAA was the sponsor on paper mostly for insurance reasons.

Without a doubt the FAA could not have done this without its affiliates not trying to put FAA in front but not trying to let FAA lose any credibility for what it can do and has done.

If you get a list of names and addresses I will follow up on this keep in mind FAA has a lot on its plate at this time.

Bishop

Thank you Bishop. Perhaps a letter from FAA as the sponsor would be the proper thing to do. Now I know some people involved were private, not companies. They may not want there info put on a thread. So who will be collecting the list and how.

Moodfood,

I've been banging my head (it's a northern thing in cold weather) trying to come up with the right words to convey my thoughts, feelings and observations of that day.. YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON!! :D :D :D In a hundred years I could not have summed it up as elequently as you have... Thank you!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Mood I agree with BigKavr you could not have said it any better it is beyond words on how the little flame that I lit turned in to a roaring fire by the members of Southern Airboat warmed the hearts of so many and I am so honored that we all helped a Man that I have admired for so many years

Bishop, you are too humble. We all are. It's not about glory at all, but you are totally right - the FAA did step up and in the most respectful and low-key way. So low-key that some may not have see the hand of the FAA unless it's mentioned. AS IT DESERVES TO BE MENTIONED AND THANKED.

Brian and Sniper - thanks for your kind words. I would hope you would take my words and edit and tweak them a little. I sure ain't no writer. But I'm honored you feel that way. thanks.

I''d be happy to step up to round-up the names of those who will be getting the thanks letters. I think it'll be a long list! I've made these mailing lists before. I can't write any letters - but I'll donate some email time to helping organize the list of names. That, I can do! I just want to help somehow!

If you want a letter sent, send a note to me at moodfood@mac.com and I'll compile the list and share it with... who? Bishop, Sniper, Ken, JohnC..... I suppose anyone who submits a name will be included on the email mailing list.

Not to keep score, not a competition. But just a gesture to send a personal note to those who chipped in to make that historic day happen.

Let me know if I can help.

matt.

:D :) 8) Matt I cannot think of a better person that can compile a list of names and what they did for one Historical event so if you can gather up the names and addresses along with what we need to thank them about.

   Also Matt thanks for all of your kind words keep up the good work.

Hey Y'all,

I just got back from buds trying to get the place a little more ship shape. he has landscaping that has been ignored for many years. Nancy showed me some old pictures of bud about 35-40 years ago. I am going to scan them and if someone here knows how to post them, just let me know and I will email them to you, possibly this week. I am headed back over there tomorrow to finish up. Bud looked pretty good, and I think this is funny..., He kept staring at my lawn mower, it isa pretty decent one from sears that has hydrostatic drive. Finally I asked bud if he wanted to take if for a spin, yup, he jumped right on and proceeded to mow his yard for the first time in a long time. He really seemed to be enjoying himself. Some things a man just likes to do himself.

He seemed pretty happy talkative and laughing, and seemed to be moving pretty good. I need to schedule some time this week to get his boat back from the club. All in all I would say you folks did a very nice thing with only one thing in mind.

I will try to keep y'all posted on how bud is doing. Anyone that met him at the ride or ceremony is welcome to call him, I believe he enjoys talking to all of you. Plus it helps him keep what happened in the front of his mind. He is listed on 411.com, robert marquis in Homestead. Just don;t call before noon.

Take care,

Ken

Thanks Ken! Always good to have an update on Bud and Nancy. I'd have paid good money to see him out there on that mower. :D
