Hey I need a couple of KC Lights or whatever for my boat what kind? where do I get them and what is a good price?

American Airboats Is Located IN Orange, Texas on the Tx/La border. THey have KC lights in stock and another brand that costs less and is rubber surrounded. Give them a call 1-800-241-6390

Pep Boys usually has them. I was wondering, could you get the housing from say a chevy pickup lights and integrate them into a grass rake where you could have high/low/fog? KCs are expensive and really drain a battery.

I am installing bowfishing lights on my boat and using high pressure sodium and metal halide lights powered by a generator. These are brighter than the 110v halogen work lights you can get anywhere, and completely blow away any of the off road lights. They can also be run from a power inverter connected to your electrical system.

Sams is selling a 500 watt 12v to 110v power inverter right now for about 25 bucks.

Since you will be limited to 500 watts if you use this inverter I am comparing the lights in 250 watt fixtures assuming you would run 2 of them.

KC Hi-Lites biggest light is a 130 watt Halogen, they produce about 2,600 lumens and sell for about 100 bucks.

250 watt Halogen work lights produce about 20 lumens per watt or 5,000 lumens and sell for 10-12 bucks.

250 watt Metal Halide fixtures produce about 100 lumens per watt, or 25,000 lumens and sell for about 150-175 bucks.

250 watt High Pressure Sodium fixtures produce about 110 lumens per watt, or 27,500 lumens and sell for about 150-175 bucks.

If I was going with the MH or HPS I would get cheaper, smaller fixtures than the 250 watt and spread them out, or just use 2 and save some bucks and electricity.

What do you mean Hoover, that Diamondback did not come with lights?? Man you got screwed. I'll give you 12grand for it 8) /Enjoy it

Yep under pressure I did get screwed it didn't come with light or an anchor light and the bow light is bad too lol. The guy was older and he never went anywhere till about 10 in the morning anyways so he wasn't worried about them.

Under - DON'T DO IT, You are offering him to much. LOL

Hoover - Look on top of the cage. There is usually a little plate to mount the anchor light on. That way the glare doesn't blind you.

I have seen airboats with mounts on the sides of the stands or cage for the running lights (red and green). They have to shine 120 degrees either way from the centerline of the boat. It had shields that prevented it from being seen from another angle. I know a boat that has a crude but legal setup for this on the cage.

A large stainless washer can work for a KC light mount. If you are running salt water look into getting the stainless KC housings. They cost about 15 dollars more, but survive in the salt water area.

That's what we run up here. All plastic, so nothing to corrode, much lighter, very tough, and very bright!

I have a set on my truck and love them. Plastic is pretty tough, havn't cracked off driving at -50F.

The beam is also adjustable like a maglight, you an also get different beam filters and different color filters.

Sweet there isn't a tab for my anchor light. There is a wire that runs to it though. There are tabs for my KC lights just not the anchor.
