Looking for some Pacemaker trouble shooting ideas.

I have a 4-cylinder Pacemaker ignition that burns the fuse every time I turn it on. Before the storm I went out and started the boat and as all ways it started right up, ran for about 30 seconds and quit. Any idea that I could try would be appreciated.

The most useful information I can give you is to contact Darrin at Pacmaker. Just be prepared to listen and learn.

I assume we are talking about the fuse on the Pacemaker coil pack. The first thing I would check is ignition on, engine off. Does the fuse blow or stay good without firing cylinders? If it blows without the engine running you are probably chasing a short on hot somewhere, so ignore the rest and advise.

If it only blows when running my #1 suspect is ground issues, less voltage = more current. Run a #10 AWG or larger wire direct from the battery negative to a clean ground on the coil pack. If that solves things you need to go through your grounding back to the battery, and it won't hurt to leave the ground bypass.

#2 is battery/alternator, the Pacemaker will run on 9 volts, but 14.3 is more ideal.

#3 thing would actually be my #1 thing if I knew my grounds and battery were good. Unplug the display. The Pacemaker should run fine on a baseline timing curve without the display.

If no joy, see my initial suggestion.
