Losing Rpm's

crabby

Well-known member
Was out on my buddies boat today 383 stroker all of a sudden she wouldn't turn over 2200 rpm's, felt like it wasn't running on all cylinders, good oil pressure , didn't run hot, pulled valve covers everything looked good, plugs were fine could it be a blown head gasket

Broken or stretched throttle cable? Or frozen shut secondaries. I have had this happen before, but I was still able to turn 4000.

If possible, you may want to try running the engine again and see if you have the same problem.

See if the engine repeats this behavior. JMO-

Bonds the motor was running fine pulled up on the bank shut it off fished for a little while started up fine wouldn't turn over 2200

Maybe jumped time when you shut it down. That's when it happens.

Check compression and do a leak down
check fuel supply and carb for problems
Check your ignition, springs, weights, rotor, cap, wires, plugs.

Maybe vapor lock? If it was at operational temperature and you shut it off and let it sit the fuel could have gotten hot in the lines? Just a thought.

does it still idle the same with no noticable rpm change?and the temps never got above normal?was it easy to start after shut down?does he run vacumme advance?
