ILL TELL YOU GUY'S WHAT , I THOUGHT I WAS WORKING FOR A PRETTY GOOD COMPANY , IVE BEEN THERE FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS WORKED HARD FOR THEM 58 HOURS A WEEK AND THEY TREATED US REAL GOOD , UNTILL TODAY AT 5:00 , WE CAME IN FILLED UP OUR EQUIPMENT , PARKED THEM AT THE YARD LIKE ALWAYS ALL THE GUY'S WERE BULLSHITING AROUND THE FUEL TANKS LIKE ALWAYS WHEN THE SUPERVISORS WALKED UP AND INFORMED US IT WAS OUR LAST DAY , HE'S REAL SORRY PLEASE TURN IN YOUR UNIFORMS BY FRIDAY ! I CAN UNDERSTAND THATS CONSTRUCTION RIGHT NOW IS IN A SLUP AND I CAN EVEN UNDERSTAND A COMPANY HAVING TO LAY FOLKS OFF , BUT WHY BE A COWARD !! WHY NOT BE WHITE ENOUGH TO GIVE A MAN A LIL NOTICE OR AT LEAST LET HIM FINISH THE WORK WEEK.. THERE JUST AINT NO LOYALITY FOR THE WORKIN MAN WITH THESE BIG COMPANYS YOUR JUST A RAT ON THE WHEEL CHASE'IN CHESSE TILL THEY AINT GOT NONE LEFT AND THELL CUT YOUR THROAT...

My wife just left the bank she's worked at for over 16 years just because of the "corperate mentality" she started off on the customer service platform and worked her way up to Assistant Vice President...She gave her notice, and they didn't even have the deciency to ask for an exit interview.
Even more sickening is these big executives that quit/get fired and leave with more money than ten familys make in a year! Poor schmuck busting his arse to make the company money doesn't even get "have a nice day". :x
 
There was a time when I would not dream of leaving a job
without giving a two weeks notice, but I've seen what
happened to Dusty happen to too many good workin folk
and it makes me think it will be awful hard to give a notice
when the time comes to go. unless they can me first
and I'm sure notice will be ZIP!!!
 
I work for the largest Cat dealer here in FL and they wouldn't think twice to can ya if they needed to.

I was laid-off back in "89" by them. My boss didn't have the spine to tell me until the last minute. I heard that I was getting laid0ff because they found a better way to do something. No spot for me . Here is a kicker for ya it was 51 weeks into my first year. 1 week short of a year, You would think they would give me a week.NOPE not these hard asses.

Now they did call me back to work in Tampa 8 months later, Then 2 years later I transferred back to Brooksville and I'm making twice as much money then what my old boss, that still works in the same spot as when I left, is making. YOU know I through that up in is face when I can.
 
Look at the bright side D BREWSTER....you're better off working for some other outfit now that you know how the company operates.
 
Dusty, I am sorry to hear you lost your job. These are some tough times in the construction business right now. I may have to sell my boat soon also if things don't pick up. I was not going to talk about this on here but I am dealing with a situation right now where two people who I thought were close friends are trying to put me out of business. I used to work with these guys driving tractor trailers for a large grocery company. When I went on my own and started my own business and started doing well they asked me if they bought trucks, could I keep them busy? As I started picking up more accounts I began sub contracting the work to them. I always felt good that I helped others that I worked with start there own business and be successful. Most of my customers are in the construction supply business and work has gotten slow. Myself, my two employees and two other of my owner operators who have been loyal so far have all had to cut back and make sacrifices. It hurts me more than angers me that two people I helped and trusted are going around to my customers that I woked hard to establish and cutting rates to take the business for themselves. It's like they stabbed me in the back.
 
Dusty, I believe they have to pay you two weeks severance pay by Federal law, and also unemployment for 60 days.

Get on the State of Florida website in the morning and locate the office For the Federal Wage and Hour people. They'll have a toll free number. Give em a call and ask about what you're entitled to. It might not be as dark as it seems tonight .
 
dont worry guys these hard times will weed out the weak low ballin scum bags seen it before/ geneva mark my words give it time they will be beggin ya for something to pull before its all over yall know what they say about when the going gets tough?
 
The last place I worked I was there for ten years! Every person that gave a two week notice was fired. Needles to say people quit putting in their notice! I have learned you will always be better of by treating people right.
 
My company worked us 2 weeks, paychecks bounced, boss said nothing he could do but if we could all just hang on a little longer...... i did for 4 weeks. some did for 6,7,8!!!!!weeks and this guy didn't even try to pay them.

Olf's right. what goes around comes around. he now has people coming from every whichway pokeing sticks at him. some of them are poking hard too.

If you care about your job, whatever it is that you do, there is always another job for you.
HOWEVER--- say what you want. The days of loyalty are over, my freinds. You are a number. I was the closest of about 250 people to this man. He begged me to come to florida. he was a personal friend. He don't know my name anymore unless he needs something I have or can do.
