Seen a boat at the lake awhile back it was a 540 case with GITSU jugs turned upside down. What's involved in doing this and how much power could it make.Seems a lot easier to put angle valve jugs with 11-487 pistons and inject it or short jug it and get 320-330 horse.

Crossflow?what do you have to do to doit.Cut the case?Is the cylinder bolt pattern the same.how much horsepower?

Bolt pattern is the same. Not sure you have to bore the case, but I would imagine so.

wouldn't turning the jugs upside down mess up the oiling process?? the vale covers would have to stay full of oil before cycling around

I think you have to re-drill and tap the oil returns as well.

As you probably know , the Cont has the cam on the bottom and the Lyc has the cam on the top...so it works!

GenevaO550 and Mike Thurman know a lot more about these engines, maybe they will chime in

Larry has some pics in his gallery of a Lyconental. You can see where they put in fittings for the oil return lines.

Do you have to bore the case? And what kind of horsepower would it make. Also what about pushrod tubes.

The continental cyls are a larger bore so you do have to bore the case but the bolt pattern is the same. I am not sure about which pushrod tubes but I will find out.

Predator 470,you must be thinking of someone else,I've bought parts from him but haven't got a motor.I got a GO480.Did you get the motor of his boat.

O, sorry, Now that i think of it, i belive his name was Tony520. He built me a jam up 540 that was identical to his old motor. Angle valve fuel injected 540, w/ 11478 pistons, j-modle rods, etc! about 320 horsepower

Hey Predator, Gary finished my motor afew weeks ago. Actually picked it up two and half weeks ago and delivered to Diamondback. It should be done in two weeks or so. I then need to bring it back to Gary for the fine tuning of the fuel injection. The motor looks really GOOD. Will post some pictures soon.
