Lycoming 0720

I used to work on them quite a bit and have flown in airplanes like Queenaires that had two of them on them. They seemed to be about the same as a geared supercharged o-540 to me.But they were alot tougher and lasted longer with less maint. All they are is a 540 with two more cylinders added to it. I am pretty sure Lycoming rated them at 400hp. But it would probably be a fun engine to run with very little maint. for the power output. :D

Have drooled over the thought of one of those on a riveted 13 foot palm beach. Getting the HP of hopped up 350s with alot less weight.

However, I was told the crank runs about $8,000.00 new and parts are hard to find.

It would be real sweet.

I agree Pat,

The cylinders, pistons, and rods would be pretty easy to come by but mags, crank, etc. would be expensive.

Boy would that kinda power/weight combination be fun though!
