personally I like the Pe-90 continental better but there are plenty who love them lycomings . Pe-90 has lots of build potential , do some searches if you don't figure it out let me know

What are your plans for the motors? race frog or just riding? That 125 is a good motor stock, not sure on up grades for it?

One thing to keep in mind is the lycoming cam is on top and the cont is on the bottom. There was some talk a while back about the lyco cams not staying oiled well while idleing around for frogs.

The lycoming cam usually goes bad from sitting and getting dry and rusty causing small pits then getting worse with time. A well used engine has a less chance than a well used one. They do get plenty of oil idling.

The best I've found for getting more power out of that Lycoming is to put an O-320 crank in and bore the case for O-320 cylinders. You could even use the same crank and just put on new O-320 cylinders too. While it is apart you will want to get the cam inspected and overhauled. They seem to be the weak point on that engine. The cam gets plenty of oiling when idling. It gets rusted from sitting and not being run. The cylinder walls get rusted too from not running. Overall that is a good engine.

I knew it was something to that effect, thought it was an idling thing. Still a good lil motor stock

i hve seen a 125 built with a 320 crank and 480 cylinders high comp pistons. that was a bad little motor. but it basically means replacing every thing. but you can buy a set of 0435 angle vale cylinders and pistons and make it a strong 135 to 140 horse motor without rebuilding everything. just replace the cylinders. and get new headers...give or take a few pieces..

yes the case has to be bored.. if you going to build it right nows the time... spend the extra money and get new parts if you can like pistons for one junior junigan has good deals on new pistons instead of using old ones

depends on what model he has . but i do know where ther are a whole bunch of 435 angle valve cylinders and pistons are in real good shape if any one is interested.
