I know to all you aircraft motor nuts and even you auto nuts this may seem crazy, but i have oil coming out of my exhaust manifold on my number two cylinder. This is either a blown jug or rings are shot, its also coming out of the bottom spark plug but i know that the helicoil is shot, and that it may be junk but oil should never be getting there in the first place, i dont really have the money to have it worked on by a aircraft mechanic and theyre not easy to come but up here in illinois so i bought an overhaul manual to try and replace the jug, am i in the right or .............what do you guys think you have a lot better knowledge about this stuff than i do.....can i replace the jug on my own.....i do have pretty good knowledge of car motors.......PLEASE HELP

dukrbuk,

I don't see where you would have any real difficulty replacing a cylinder, it is really fairly simple and you have a manual :)

I say, go for it....if you get into trouble, ask for help. Someone on here will surely talk you thru the procedure.

If you have a pancake cage or the cage removed where one can easily get to the engine it doesn't take long to replace the cylinder. If you want to bring it over to my place in Des Moines we can get it replaced in a couple of hours. I have all the tools and lots of experience. I'm retired so any day is fine. PM me if you need help.

What an invite. You see somebody thats knows what he's doing walk you through it and you will be good to go. it would be worth the drive.

dmb, thanks for the offer i appreciate that but by time i read this i have half of it off already, but thanks a bunch and i will definetly be sending you some pms
