Lycoming Engine Mounts Question........

How much better are the polymer bushings than the rubber? What are the advantages? Also, are all bushings the same design for Lycoming or are they different for say; 0360 vs 0540? Lastly, torque to how many pounds with the different bushings? Thanks....

Duc - I think that the 360 & 540 are different. I know that there are at least 2 types (or styles) of rear mounts on the 540.

I have not seen the polymer, but sounds like it would last. But if you try them let us know.

who is that and what is his contact info? i've also heard that it depends what kind of stand you build as to what kind of bushing you have to use. if you build a round mount with beveled inside edges then you have to use the conical. if it is built out of square tubing, then you can use a standard flat bushing. i don't know how its going to be built....????

I have a round pipe for a rear mount (by the prop) the inside of the pipe is 1 3/8. and is not beleved but just straight pipe about 4 in long. I need to replace the wore out rubber bushings, the one's im replacing have a metal sleeve in them that fits snug in the pipe. I was told they might be car or truck body mounts but have no idea where to find them. Anyone seen something that might work? here is my link to the mount.

you can get the conical bushings in polymer or rubber from Classic airboats. Most race boats run the poly bushings for a more solid mount, some people I know run a poly on one side and a rubber on the other on high performance type boats. The rubber mounts run $4.00 each and the poly mounts are $6.25 each from Classic.
