Well i have got my boat back from the welding shop and it has a wonderful new engine stand the one that was on it when i bought the boat was conduit and brazed together ! Now thats done im trying to find out more about my motor the guy i got it from says its a lycoming 125 out of a sea plane but my buddy who has the welding shop is also an airboater and told me it was a gpu because of the big oil pan. What i was wondering is if anyone knows a site where i could get diagrams on the motor or anything ive got alot of numbers off the motor not sure which ones are serial or not and it also says mohawk between the jugs and no one knows what that means. So i turn to you guys for help i just wanna get my boat done and go play seein how its my first ab.
I got the itch help me scratch it!

My 220 GPU had Mohawk stamped on the case.

Post a couple pictures of your motor. I'm sure someone will be able to ID it for you.

Post some pics of that engine if you could. There is not much of a reference for the Lycoming ground power units. The G model I believe was the most recent 0-290 gpus.

The sump is one thing to look at. But look at the back of the case where the crankshaft comes out. Does the case taper down to a neck and look like a factory aircraft engine should look. Or does it look like the area was big and square and there had to be some of the case cut, ground, and metal removed to be able to get the flywheel to go on. You have to do some case work to put a prop on the GPU motor. The aircraft version looks like this.
