lycoming oil changes

does anyone bother with draining the oil cooler when doing an oil change, My cooler holds 2 qts, I thought about putting a drain on the bottom. Not sure if I might end up with an air lock problem when adding oil or not.

Mwood, never gave it much thought....I guess I could take the hose off and bloww it out....lots of dirty oil still in there..

If you want to clean it out try using diesel fuel. That about the safest thing to used.

i have mine mounted with the hose attachments down. not sure if this is correct though, its just the way we've always done it....
