Mag

I have an e-series 0-470 Angle Valve Continental. I resently burn one of the mags up(pos. touched neg. and fried points, coil, and condencer). So I put new points, condencer, and coil in it. But the motor still shuts of when grounding the good mag out. So i pulled the cap, and tested each hole, and the shaft, so problems there its all firing at the mag, but its not getting it to the plugs. So could it of possably hurt the mag wires also? it beats me, b/c they look fine. But if anyone knows whats wrong HELP! PLEASE

Predator, I'm not a magneto man by any stretch of the imagination, but I'd check for continuity through the new coil first. Be sure to isolate it.
New doesn't always mean better.

I don't see how the plug wires could have been harmed.

I wonder if flashing the magnets in the mag could have occured.
The external volatge applied might have change the magnets strength, or polarization.

A good strong mag needs good strong magnets in it.

I'd pull the wires on the good mag, and see if you can tell if it throws more fire at the block than the one that took the hit.

If it does, then that problem mag may need to be re-magnetized.
If it don't, check the block, and wires. You could swap the harness out from the good mag, and see if that moves the symptom over.

It could be that you see fire at the trouble mag because your meathod of checking for spark at the block is less resistance than the plugs and wires. If it has been weakend, then it may not have the power to push that spark through the harness, but still let you see some spark at the block.

Just seems wierd that you would have problems with the plug wires, if you did'nt before the mag got nailed.

I'm not a magneto expert either, but just trying to give some ideas man.
