Does anyone know the correct setting for points on a straight valve 0540 or know why one mag would not be operating correctly.How to rebuild one or someone close by that would know.The boat is in levy county.
 
Maybe I should copy the Lycoiming procedure out of my book and make a sticky here out of it? Any comments pro or con? I don't have a Clakanental book but if someone were to get me the procedure from them Ill include it in the same post.

Any thoughts?

Yes, pleae, do it before i put these mags back on my boat and have to ask you for it.

for mags you do not set the point by how wide they are open. You set them when they open. Bendix mag are different that slick, Once you you have to set them they are easy. Bendix has diagram & pointer . You can make out a paper copy of the degree wheel & the pointer out of twisted wire, See there web site (Telidyne I think Owns Them or It may be on Lycomy Web site). Slick takes a special mental part you can but from them . I think less than $10 . Get the procedures from them
