Manatee burgers in Puzzle Lake

Last night while gator hunting south of puzzle lake we came across what we thought was one big GATOR. Snatch the critter with a treble hook and 100 lbs powerpro line. And off we went. Was being dragged down the river at 8 knots. Was thinking to myself, " That taxadermy Man is going to have a fit when he sees what I brought him."
When we went 200 yds, I said Ol My God, this must be something huge. He peeled off 100yds, The wake was just impressive. It de-spooled the reel, but the knot held. Well, 1 mile down the river the critter got tired and we gained the line back. Dam "Manatee gator" must have been 14 ft long and over 2000 lbs. It was one hell of a ride. Made the night very interesting. We slacken the line and pull it from the side and the hook came out. It just swam off and was never seen again.

As I was going down the river, I thought , Hey, what woould RICH do? Then it came to me. He would have another cold one and enjoy the ride and hang on for dear life. No burgers tonite, but , a great night.

I have nothing but good things to say about Ambassador 5000 fishing reels, PowerPro line, and Uglysticks poles. Some tough stuff!!!!!

Saw your monster Gator (two sea cows) heading south on the south side of the Hwy 50 west channel around 8:00 this morning...

About 2 years ago I was looking for schooled mullet in south Tampa Bay and saw a big boil. So I stopped and waited for the school to rise again. I saw a shadow and reared back with my cast net and started to throw just in time to see 2 manatees blow. I stopped. I am still leary fishing in deep water because the brail rope is around my wrist!!
