Well just for fun I pulled up the ordinances here and typed in AIRBOAT and heres what I got,
NOISE: no person shall operate or give permission for the operation of any vessel on county waters, including the intracoastal waterway, in such a manner as to exceed the following sound levels ata distance of 50' from the vessel: for all vessels, a maximum of sound level of 90 db
any person who refuses to submit to a sound level test when requested to do so by a law enforcement officer is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishiable as provided in blah blah blah
a cited owner or operator may at his or her own expense, arrange for a sound level test to be conducted with the engine running at full throttle, by a private certified operator, in order to disprove the allegation that the engine is not reasonably muffled. if the sound level is below the maximum permissible level of 90 db at 50' the owner or operator shall not be guilty of a noncriminal infraction pursuant to sectio 2-32-23(b) hereof.
HOWS THAT FOR A SOUND ORDINANCE IT WAS APPROVED 11-30-99
NOW ABOUT AIRBOATS ;
1.) no person shall operate an airboat on any county waters between the hours of 600 pm and 800 am, eastern time.
2.) no person shall operate an airboat at any time on county waters in sarasota bay, south of cortez bridge, in palmasola bay, in perico bayou, in anna maria sound north of sr 64, in terra cia bay, in miguel bay or in bishop harbor.
3.) the above phrohibitions and restrictions do not apply to airboats owned or under contract to federal, state or local government and operated for official business by duly authorized personnel.
and just so you know ...
COUNTY WATERS; mean all public water, rivers creeks bayous, canals and channels, whether natural or man made, located in manatee county, including lake manatee, small inland lakes and all public waters within the jurisdiction of the county in which the tide ebbs and flows. the term does not include waters within the florida intracoastal waterway.
AIRBOAT: means a vessel which has a principle propulsion system which utilizes a pusher type or tractor type propeller, fan or blade which is not normally submerged below the water surface upon which the vessel operates; the fact an airboat can be propelled by a small auxillary motor or by some other force does not change its characterization as an airbaot.
there is more but I believe ya'll get the drift of it they dont like airboats over here !!!
