Maps Available....

Hey Y'all. Some of you have seen the aerial maps I make.

I think they really look good, and so do a bunch of others I guess... I've been asked more times than I can remember about "How can I get one of those?".

These are the maps that were on display at the Southern Airboat booth @ the Broward show, and sold at the KRVSA charity auctions.

These things are not easy to make, but I've built a system where I can get them professionally printed, and shipped to you. Soon, I will also have some with me at the rides and functions, if anyone is interested in getting one then.

I've been building a web store so I can get these maps out there to those of you who've been wanting one. (or more) Y'all are invited to watch as I put the finishing touches on the store (website), and stock the shelves with my one-of-a-kind maps!!! It's been a tedious process - I've created all the art myself from scratch, and coded the HTML by hand. (Thanks go out to Marshbunny for helping me polish up my code and make the site display good) :)

I'm not entirely sure of the pricing, these things are expensive to make - but worth every penny! I fear that I've priced them where I may be losing a little money & I may have to raise the prices once this ol' ball gets rolling!!!! This is not something I'll ever get rich doing.... I just want to share the love and get these maps out there to my airboating friends!!!

These are more than maps, these things look good enough to frame and hang on the living room wall!!! (Well, depending on your decor & wife, maybe the den, or office) :)

Trying to show them here is like trying to show HDTV in regular tv. The computer screen is not hi enough resolution to show the detail. YOU CAN USE A MAGNIFYING GLASS ON THESE MAPS TO SEE EVEN MORE DETAIL!

Check out the store.... There are only a few maps available right now, but more are coming VERY soon, so check back.

I'll probably post something here when I have something new to offer you guys. (there are some cheaper, smaller WATERPROOF maps I'm putting together to be available soon)

Enjoy! And by all means..... Comments, requests, and criticism are ALWAYS welcomed!!!

Mood,

Good to see you got it "up-and-running". I am first hand testiment to the quality of these maps! Awesome quality and detail.

Did you say "smaller" maps  I want enough of them to wallpaper the living room :D

Nice website!!!! Great idea, and great implementation. All it should take is for one person in the area to get one, 'cause once other people see it, they're going to want one too!!! Maybe you should get FDOT to allow you to put one on the bulletin board at the rec areas on the Alley (if there are any), so you get some more exposure.

And when you get the one of WCA-2A finished, let me know..........

Awesome Matt, I want at least two. I am going to buy more as they come out. I am very happy for you and for what you have done.
Thanks.

Matt, You have got something pretty cool happening. I hope it springs into something big enough to make a living at. Check your PM for more info

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I've worked very hard on this, and I'm continuing to do more hard work, so stay tuned, this will be expanded.

Doc - I'll take that as my FIRST REQUEST! :) You got it. I'll make Area 2a my next new map.

In the store now:
Lake Kissimmee area, Lakes shown on this map are Kissimmee Tiger, Rosalie, Hatchineaha, Cypress, and Gardiner marsh and much of the land surrounding the lakes.

Everglades 3a map has I-75 along the top, and US27 on the right, Duck camp is in the lower left corner of this map, and I'll be making a "part 2" to go along with this one soon.

St. Johns River, West Titusville/Mims map covers the area between Hwy 50 north to Hwy 46.

I've currently got 3 maps "in the works":

Lake George is going to be a beautiful map, the aerials are clean, uniform in color, and very highly detailed.

Melboune - South is also going to be an attractive map, covering a lot of area, and since it's a long skinny ride area, the layout allows two large insets where I've zoomed in on the Bulldozer canal/Lk. Hell-n-blazes area and another zoom-in for Lk. Sawgrass area. This one is drawn and at the printers for a preliminary copy, which I'm then going to take out and confirm all the GPS #s and local names for the places.

Cocoa - West is the third map I have in process, which included the edge of Lk. Poinsett north to Hwy 50. This one also shapes up to be a very attractive and informative map.

And WCA-2A will be the next I tackle. It'll be a few weeks.

These are a lot of work, and I'm NOT COMPRIMISING on the image/print quality or the physical quality of the finished print.

Folks, at this time, these maps are more like "functional art". They do look good, and are mainly intended as wall posters. I can get them printed on high quality TYVEK "paper" but I'm still working out a deal to get the price of that down.

In order to show the detail that is there on such a large area, they have to be big, and have to be printed in high resolution. On my smaller versions, intended for taking on the boat, you will still have the aerial benefits of being able to see changes in vegetation, but the trails dissappear when reduced small enough to be cost-practical. So I'm painstakingly drawing the trails on the larger images, then shrinking them down.

From my test images, I think it's going to work out VERY WELL!!!

Please stay tuned, get yourself a nice big map for your wall, and check back often! I'll keep regular updates on the site.

Some details of the site are still being worked out, but this is fully functional now. Credit card processing is safe and secure by a (not cheap) SSL certificate and merchant account which I applied for and achieved. So when you shop my store, notice that the pages all begin with https :)

Thanks to the requests and comments from readers, I'm adding "preview" images of the maps so you can see the area of coverage.

Thanks for inspiring all this - Southern Airboat!!!

Hello moodfood I am new to site but not to airboating I was looking at your maps and would to see if you can get for up around Hernando from SR200 to Hwy 44 and east of Hwy 41 including the Withalacoohcee river and from Hwy 44 to Hwy 48

Dark Wader - First off, as a fan of sci-fi and Star Wars, Your name absolutely cracks me up! Very creative!!! And very fitting for an ariboater. I can't wait to meet you in person - You & I have a similar sense of humor. Welcome to the gang!

About the Hernando pool... I've been out there a few times and LOVE IT!!! Very beautiful for sure.

And a maze of trails to say the least.

Last fall, I was working on a map of that area, I had about 50 hours of time invested in it, and was hit by a hard drive castrophy - I lost that map and a lot of other stuff with it. (including over 10,000 songs from my music collection)

The map I had covered quite a bit south of 44, Hwy 200 on the west, and the river on the north and east. It was in 2 meter resolution (the highest resolution map I've ever made) and was very good looking. It broke my heart to lose it.... And taught me a valuable lesson about redundant backups.

Are you saying that I don't really need to go south of Hwy 44? That will make it much easier to re-do the map.

I'll add it to my "request list" and get on it A.S.A.P. It may be a few weeks to a month before it's ready to print. I'll let you know by posting here.

Newly finished: St. Johns River map - between 50 & 46. This is the area that includes Loughman Lodge.

Here is what it looks like:

I had my dog with me from a day of ocean swimming at the beach, and they would not even let me on the property at the Jolly Gator. So, THANKS Skeeter for taking my latest map into the Seminole Club meeting. I hear it was a hit there!

It's one of the best I've done so far! An old timer sitting at the bar at Loughman's (where they don't mind having a dog on the property) sat there looking at it for quite some time. He seemed to enjoy it.

I'm going to try to get them one to hang on the wall there!
