10-4 BPS about the first trail. Thanks for the warning!

That reminds me to point out that these are somewhat new photos (relatively speaking to what else is out there on the web) but since this aerial photo was taken, 20 months have past, and three hurricanes have crossed this area. So things like floating islands will have changed! These maps should only be used as suggestions. Nothing can substitute for common sense observations and general care navigating your boat.

With that said... I tried to get the entrance of every canal so you can time yourself running that line. On the maps, the tip of the arrow is where I took the GPS reading. Certain features like the Ridge and BS Hill are at the mouths of the canals, and the mouth numbers count for those features.

I've never operated a GPS unit, and I really REALLY hope someone with a nice GPS unit invites me to go on a ride on their boat. I'd like to see what they are capable of and what they do in general.

I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are. Please correct me if need be.

Thanks for the compliments on my mapmaking duty :) and enjoy the new map. (the old map has been deleted) Rick, Don't sweat the web storage thing. I have 1 gig of space available to me on my .mac account. I'm not even using half of it. I may order a print of this photo on posterboard or foamcore - To set up at the milk bus during the run. WIth any luck I can get my money back from it by trying to sell it to Camp Mack or someone after the ride.

Mood this is the pic I was talking about. If you can get one from the bottom of this one and keep heading south a bit I'll have a great pic of my camp. Thanks. Mike

:( Wow great pic first off. So close I can almost see the ranch. :? By arial terms I need it a little farther south of the main road you see to the south. That's the road that takes you to Thomas. I'm south through the trees a little more. But again very nice pic.

Here I am holding the print of the big map for the ride on the Kissimmee Chain. It just came in the mail. I ordered it from a large format printing place - I uploaded the file, and they printed it the same day and FedEx'd it out the following morning.

But I must say, it came out GREAT!!! The resolution is so high it looks like a normal camera shot. You can get out a magnifying glass and see some pretty fine detail. The size is about 27"x27" and it is laminated in a matte finish. Very easy to read.

Once again, here is the link to the map that I had printed:
http://homepage.mac.com/moodfood/.Pictu ... ainGPS.jpg
But please note that this is NOT the actual file that I printed. For the print, I reduced the size by half, which doubled the resolution. If they didn't save the image, contact me and I can upload it again - easily.

I'm thinking about making aerial photos of all my favorite boating areas and getting a whole set of my own custom maps to carry aboard.

Looking forward to letting everyone see and use the map from base camp at the milk bus. :)

Windows or Internet Explorer is resizing the over sized image to fit into the window. There may be a place in PREFERENCES to turn that feature off. I'm not a PC user so not sure exactly how to do that. (I'm on a Mac computer)

There is also a possibility that you can Save To Disk, and then open the image in another program.

Rick is up to speed with the PC tricks. Maybe he'll chime in about this. Anyone else?

LOL... That part never occured to me. Either I have a clean, naive mind, or that sort of stuff is no problem for me. ;) But funny either way. :)

When my file does that, I keep double clicking until this little symbol with a 4 directional arrow. Click on that and the picture gets large again.

That little symbol Adam mentioned comes up for me by moving the mouse over the image & holding it still (Internet Explorer 6).

Image resizing can be turned off permanently by going to the Tools pull down:

Tools-->
Internet Options-->
Advanced-->
Scroll down to "Multimedia" & unclick the "Enable Automatic Image Resizing" box then press "OK".

It'd be a similiar process on other browser's too.

BigD - Time is running out to get it in time for the ride. Although I'm going to bring this one, & nail it to a tree or something at the milk bus for everyone to use while there.

Try calling them @ 877.588.4417 (toll free) and ask about the aerial map recently ordered by Matt Hasty. I told them that there may be others in the airboat club who wanted this print - so they may have the image still in their computer. Be sure to get CLEAR about the shipping time. The lamination is optional and was $2 per square foot extra. You could also order this image on gator board or foam-core or even transparent film.

I got second day shipping, and it turned out to be about a $40 map.

I don't make any money of this. I'd not mind getting into some sort of mapping business though. :)
