Hey ya'll,

As it seems like the "quiet airboat demonstration" may be cancelled/postponed at this point :(

Thought I'd throw this one out for a majority vote.

Should we continue our ride as planned, (other launch nearby)?

Me and Ms Wizard will be there regardless, thought it only fair to everyone else.

Don't jump the gun just yet. We have 2 weeks from tomorrow. You never know what is going to happen. Be patient and see what happens.

It absolutely WILL NOT be cancelled .... it may be postponed til we get some rain. We'll all find out in a couple of days.

Thers plenty of water at Loughman to still have a good event and monthly run.Just have to run a little grass

Looks like I'm gonna miss this one regardless of where it is.

I didn't realize it till recently, but it clashes with a trip to SW Florida that's been planned for a long time. Gotta get the grandkids hooked on snook fishing.

I'll make sure somebody on the ride has some stickers to pass out.

Rick

Cool cool Rick. Of course you know our fearless leader will be missed that day.

Thunder,

The poll was launched by me to for all to decide on whether to keep the ride at Laughman or not.

What's the sense in staying there if there is no water there?

I would really like to see the place as I've never been there, but not if we meet there and then drive to another launch for the monthly run.

We could also meet at Jolly Gator and ride north to Lk Monroe and back. That would be a very good ride.Good retaurants at both ends. The Gator is only 6 miles west on 46.

That sounds like a good idea skeeter.

Do we need to be careful around Lemmon Bluff? Rick or Gatorstick said one of the very vocal anti airboaters lives there in one of those houses right on the main channel. I'm sure it's legal to drive by, just thinking courtesy. :) On the other hand....

On the restaurant issue. Of course! :D That sounds great and leaves more time for riding. One thing though... it happens at Loughman, and it happened at Lake Cypress... when a big crowd hits, it's understandable that service speed will suffer. If we're going to hit one or both of them, can we call ahead with 30 minutes warning and place an order for 50 burgers or whatever?

Someone who lives nearby can maybe go by, set up a 3 choice menu and we can all decide during a beer stop before we get there. Something to consider anyway.

Dang. The club that Rick concieved and founded is FINALLY making a group ride in HIS OWN STOMPING GROUNDS.... and he ain't going to be there for it. :(

matt.

I have been diligently doing a booty shakin' rain dance, the neighbors are talking. The poll was started to set up plan B just in case there isn't any water to run in that weekend. We still plan on being there regardless. I don't see low water impacting the competition. I hope that we would make changes to accommodate all the SA family planning on riding that weekend. Reading some of the posts reagarding all the dry ground tends to turn some of the family away.....of course just my 2 pennies as usual.
Skeeter, that is just what we need, some feedback from you guys in that area. Thanks. We don't care what everyone decides we would just like to know so we can arrange for a place to park our shoes. Oh, wait...I don't wear shoes....my husband's shoes.

I havent heard of any problems in that area Mood. And Im sure I could work something out with the restaurants on a menu and calling them before we get there. As far as riding, you guys can plan on staying where ever you planed on and we can put in at the Gator and run north.

Skeeter,

Thank you  That's all I thought we needed was a "back-up' plan

"raindancin" as hard as I can :sad11: Just don't seem to be workin, (maybe I need to put my clothes back on so I don't scare the gods away) :angel9:

Here is a map I made about a year ago for a fishin' buddy of mine. It shows the area... mostly.

The Lolly Gator Fish Camp is located just off the top edge of this map, at the north end of Puzzle Lake where Hwy 46 crosses the river.

I suppose most will be coming to Loughman's from I-95, and if you keep on going down the road, 5 minutes after the turnoff for Loughman's is the big bridge over the river. It has a County Park with fantastic ramps, and the little Jolly Gator bar/restaurant.

To the north of that ramp, is Lake Harney. This is a large lake, and also the southernmost point of the official coast guard numbered nav markers. Downstream (north) of Lake Harney, the St. Johns is more of a "real" river. Nice channel, maintained by the Army Corps-o-Engineers. Should be some nice riding. I don't think there is much skinny water riding, or trail riding. We may have to deal with some bass boats and such, but the barges pushed by the Tugboat don't go any further than lake Monroe. (Sanford/Debary)

And yes.... this is just a backup plan.

The guage is still falling, but the rate is slowing down. It was dropping a half inch per day a month or two ago. Now it's just dropping 1/16 or less per day.

Bubba - Do you have a room reserved at Loughman Lodge? It's not a big place. (I know you've been there before) The "motel" is a tiny building not much bigger than a two car garage and has only 4 rooms I think. And I believe there is another structure with another room or two. Are they allowing camping or RV parking there?

Don't stop the rain dance Jeff! And you're right Bubba - Wash the car & it'll rain.

matt.

Matt, I got a room for Fri.and Sat. nights at loughmans. I'm going to stay no matter what is going on. I need the a getaway. Besides the wife and I already took some time off w@#k. I know Rick dont like dirty words on the site. :D

I guess we are going to try and ride down here somewhere on that Sunday of anyone wants to come. Keep that rain dance going though. Hopefully it rains before then.

I washed my truck 3 times today hopeing it helps. It's the least I could do.
I got a room a loughmans also for Fri and Sat night. Would love to go for a ride Fri afternoon/evening with someone who knows they're way around. I will probably have space on my boat for others, I think I am going to be ther by myself. I hope the plans don't change but if they are going to change it would be nice to find out before Fri. so I can cancel the room if necessary.
