Watch the eye wall grow.

Anybody see the movie "Day after Tomorrow"? Sure looks like a super storm to me. I think I'd be checking the temperature buoys in the Gulf Stream to see if its happening in the Atlantic too.

If you havent seen the movie, I recommend you go rent it. Its worth the time to watch.

It's really hitting us here now Ace. Storm signals are up all over the place. The other storm "Milenyo" with 150 kph wind hit us hard leaving us powerless for two weeks and communications down as long as just over a month (no internet for a month).

Now this storm named "Reming" has 265 kph (165 mph) of gust with a really massive cloud formation. I live along a lake where I go airboating and this lake is also our nightmare when such a wheather phenomenon of this magnitude occurs.

I guesss I prepare to rebuild what I have already rebuilt a month ago :(

( oh....tie down the airboats too! :D )

You stay safe out there Leo. You can replace things but you cant replace you. I set my boats of their trailers and fill them with water when a big storm approaches. Just an idea. Hope all goes well out there.

We are still awaiting the fury to hit my place. We are just under signal number 2. Those under signal number 4 have confirmed sustained winds of 195 kph ( 122 mph ) ang gust of 265 kph ( 165 mph ).

THE BAD THING IS THE WINDS ARE EVEN MADE MORE DESTUCTIVE WITH RAIN WATER ON IT!!! FLOODING REPORTS ARE NOW IN AND DESTRUCTION IS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

I only tie down and chuck the trailers. I open the drain so water wont accumulate in the boat. The thing I do is I park the airboats besides a wall or structure that takes the wind forces i.e. besides or under small trees. I am more concerned of debris hitting the boat rather than the wind on the boat. Come to think of it, I have both of my hulls of 24" sides but I didnt had any problem during typhoons.

Thanks for the concern WB and I appreciate your suggestion...maybe I'll try it, will check if it would be applicable to the place I park my boats.

Scotty I don't know if that was some thing you figured out or some body tought that to you but filling your boat full of water and tying it down is an outstanding Idea I will remember that one and pass it on to my brother and brother inlaw they both have fishing boats and live in Florida, very cool

Sniper ya cant fill it level full, ya might damage it but you can get enough water in it the wind aint gona move it. I set em right on the ground.

Scotty

I just read that this typhoon has killed 55 in the Philippines ..... early estimates are usually low.

Sniper I didnt tell ya how I came by that idea.

When I was a little kid in East Tenn on the TVA lakes and rivers, dad would pull the drain plugs and sink the boat right at the bank when we had tornado or hurricane spinoffs coming in. We just had fishing boat with a small outboard which stayed in the garage. The boat was always tied to a tree at the river. We never lost the boat but a bunch of folks who didnt do it found their boats up to a mile away in corn fields, pastures or way down the river.

we just put blocks under the axle then fill it. I hate seeing the tires take on that much weight.

even if it puts stress on the tires or springs I think it still far out weighs loosing the boat or having it damaged, It's a great idea and I will pass it on it just amazes me how much great information come out of this web site and how nice and help full every one is on another note I had a great day yesterday I passed my SWAT Qualification yesterday we have to test regularly and at 48 it gets tough ran the mile with gear in 8min 48 sec then we immediately have to do 35 push ups and 35 sit ups and as soon as we get done with that we have to shoot at least a 90 % score with our hand gun with no time to catch your breath sure does make you feel good when all the young guys look at you and shake there head and say how do you keep doing this at your age and my best friend on the team with me who is the oldest member on the team is 52 I am the second oldest the rest of the guys are in there late twenty's to early thirty's

Sniper, you can drop yours on the ground and then put 6 - 8 inches of water in it. Flip the trailer over and stake it off. Rain will take care of the rest if it really blows.

Nearly 200 killed now in the Philippines. Sad.

I think it's going to look like a bomb went off over there after it's all over
and folks over there don't have a lot so it going to be real tough for them to rebuild I bet there is going to be a lot of flooding.

Geez. We need to be grateful for every day that we can stand upright and do simple things like turn on a coffee pot in the morning.

Prayers for their comfort.
