monthly run

Croc1

Well-known member
how about doing a ride in a different area each month !! a local member could take us on their favorite run, something casual whoever shows . if theirs a restaurant we could eat there or have a picknick at a nice head or camp this would let us check different areas (before they are closed) ,and meet some of the members. rick could pick the weekend of the month that would work best for him and we would keep it the same weekend every month so we could plan ahead. the host would need to post a map and info to a safe hotel and campground for those wanting to stay the weekend and weather it will be a picknik or waterfront restaurant.

You all would have to get started without me. My 4 cylinder has a broke crank and will be down for a while.

Croc1,
Let us know when you want to ride up there.
Put it together, and we'll come up and ride your trails.
I think you've got a great idea there. I have wanted to go to alot of the rides peop;e have spoken about here, but work has been kickin' my butt lately. should be easing up here a little.

If you put a ride together, then I'll do one soon.

Great idea.

Me and Crock1 were talking about this last week. There are several areas I want to run but don’t know my way around. Places like Okeechobee, some springs around Ocala and the big Marsh in North Florida. I’m sure Sniper would be up for a run in his neck of the woods too. It would be awesome to have local air boaters share their best ride spots with other airboaters. I want to run a different area each month before we loose the right to airboat in some of these places. I really want my little girl to see the real Florida before it’s all gone. Plus it’s a chance to meet some great people and enjoy the outdoors. I hope to be up and running in May. Do we want to set a date for the first or last week end of each month?

I would like to ride most all of florida that I can as well. new boat is almost done time to start riding

Hey Rick who do you have working on your 180. I can recommend someone who does superb work and always get’s it done right the first time. I have only come across two airboat aircraft engine guy’s that I would consider excellent.

This sounds like a great Idea I will have to plan some Vacation time around one of these rides and if you guys ever come to Georgia I will take you on the river it is miles of woods on bothe sides and nothing else and no body to bother you or for us to bother, sorry I have been out of touch for a while but I was working a servailance for some armed robbers
and we just cought them yip pee.

Hey Sniper I heard about a place like that in George I also saw it in a movie called deliverance. Just kidding sounds like exactly where me and Crock1 want to ride. Glad to hear an armed and dangerous person is of the street. We just had three different children in Florida abducted, raped and killed by three different repeat offenders in two months all the perpetrators were on a watch list and had priors. It's great news to hear about a violent criminal being caught before they hurt an innocent person you probably saved somebody’s life down the road.

sounds like a good time how about may 28th here in Cocoa theirs a good resturant at the landing the lone cabin fish camp and a couple of good camping spots not to far up river I will get some hotel info and a map that can be posted.

Waterthunder, who are the 2 mechanics you recommend? I would appreciate you letting me and us know their names.
Thanks, RJ

Waterthunder - Actually it's an angle valve 170 and I don't have anybody working on it right now. The crank broke a few weeks ago, composite prop came flying off and blew out the cage, luckily it happened with no one else in the boat or close. I did manage to bob around for the prop hub and being in the gator infested area of the St. Johns just south of hwy 50, I felt pretty lucky about that. I sure don't know why they don't open that area up for the gator hunting; I hope no one has to get hurt (especially a kid) before they realize there's too many gators in that area.

I rebuilt that motor myself about 2 1/2 years ago and was suspicious about the O320 crank with a flange that took 1/2" prop bolts at that time. I put over 200 hrs. on it though and thought everything was okay. I guess I was wrong.

I'm just in the process of trying to figure out what I'm gonna do. I may fix the 170, I just haven't made up my mind. At the very least I think I need a crank, case, (2) composite prop blades, and a cage. When you need that much, confusion sets in because you might just want to take your losses and go for a major upgrade. I'm still interested in who you would recommend since we're in the same general area.

I hope you all get some trips planned though, because I do plan on joining as soon as I can.

Rick

Rick we could put in at 50 and run down to the lone cabbage or up to the jolly gator if you dont get your boat runnin I have plenty of room we would be honered to have the King of the forum to show us around your area just name the spot and we will show , would 46 be better ? is May 28th good for you ?

Thanks for the invite croc1, but I would really like to have my boat running when we run my area. I've started taking it apart to survey the damage, but I'm not sure how long I'll be down yet.

It would also be nice to give the summer rains a little time to fill up the river & spread out into the marsh a little.

One more thing, thanks to Bobby Fleckinger, Loughman Lake Lodge should going strong in a couple months. That would be another ride opportunity for this area.

I understand completely Rick just wanted to offer . Bobby is going to hold airboat races there as well ,as it is private property maybe not so much trouble !! with a honky tonk ,resturant and cabins it would be great to end there and do a little celebrating so we would not have to drive .

Hey Guys,

Great idea - the get togethers. There is one already in the works at River Ranch Resort - FAA Airboaters Jamboree to benefit Juvenile Diabetes on April 29, 30 and May 01. Huge poker run on the Kissimmee on Saturday - thanks to KRVSA. Be there or be square.

Made reservations for the River Ranch thing. Sounds like fun. No rooms left---just camping or RV sites. Anyone know if it's possible to park boats on grass or any kind of docking---or do you have to take in and out at a ramp each day? Never been---not sure what to expect. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Harvey

Harvey,

It is possible to launch at the Resort and lock through into Lake Kissimmee. Stay tuned to Airboattrader.com for details. Most will trailer and launch either at Thomas Landings or Camp Mack - for the huge KRVSA Poker Run on Saturday.
