MOTOR?

I am new to the sport and just bought an airboat with an aircraft engine on it, is there a way to tell what size the engine is? All I know is that it's a 4-cyl continental, I also need a new prop and would like any ideas on what kind and pitch. The prop thats on it now is 60". Any help would be great thanks.

Is the carb on the bottom of the motor or the top? Does it have one or two mags? With a 60" prop most likely you have a o-200 aircraft motor or a 90hp gpu. The aircraft motor will have two mags and run the carb below the motor while the gpu may have one or two mags and run the carb on top. Hope this helps at all.

The carb is on the bottom of the engine. What do you mean mags? Are you talking about the units where the plug wires come from. Sorry, new to aircraft engines. Thanks again.

Yeah, the distributers on the front of the motor. sounds like you have an o-200 there, about 90-100hp depending on which model.

Does it look like this?
