Mounting/holder for umbrella on airboat

For those that use the big picknic umbrellas for shade on your airboat how is it mounted, attached, to the boat pics would be appreciated, thanx

Most folks use a straight flush mount fishing rod holder mounted in floor board in between front and rear seats. You can grab nice ones at any marine store. Drill the hole and drop it in with the screws really simple, you may have to modify your seadek to fit it though. Sorry no pics not at home lol.

Exactly what we use, flush mount rod holder. If you have expanded metal or a thin floor you will need to tack the bottom or support it so it will not try to lean over if using a large umbrella like we use.

Try it and see. May need some bottom support though. I just posted a pic of mine in gallery. Don't k ow how to get it here but you can blow up and look

Scotty its just an old name me and my ole school buddies used. It's a martial arts term for a master or teacher, so we kind threw it around and I started using it as an internet handle many years ago. :salute:

Back to the question on rod holders, are you guys using metal or plastic units? Would like a black coated unit to match rigging.

I have a stainless rod holder on mine to match the stainless rigging, it is bolted down and tacked on the bottom to hold it.

I dont see why you couldnt have one powder coated; of course you would have to remove the insert to powder coat, maybe you could find one already done. We have Marine Connection Liquidators here in Ft.Pierce with tons of used stuff and some new. 30000 sq.ft. of boat stuff.
It may be worth while to check out.

Thanks brother, if you see it @ Kissimmiee sometime or anywhere; stop and chat awhile.

This exactly what I did, stainless str8 rod holder, removed liner had it powder coated then put liner back in it. Had to reinforce the mounting under the flooring since it's thin aluminum.

Found one at west marine that clamps to your rigging and is adjustable from horizontal to vertical seems pretty heavy duty.

Mosley Cypress uploaded 2 pics to gallery can’t figure how to get them here, clamp probably needs rubber to prevent damage to rigging hope this helps.
