My Exotic Table

Cajun

Well-known member
My hunting buddy passed away 6 years ago and this was his. His sister I think paid over $2,000 for it. They use to do missionary work all over the world so I have no clue what kind of wood it is. Anyway this monster is 6 1/2' long from tip to tip, and its been stored in my garage. Well the wife finally told me to bring it in, now it looks like it may be just to big for our small living room. So we shall see. I just thought I would show it to ya'll cause it may end up on here for sale or ebay. I just think its a really neat table. Forget what I think was paid for this, what do you think I should get out of it if I have to sale it? Thanx for any feedback you have. Later, Cajun

Cajun, that thing is gorgeous. I just have no place for it.

Given it's history, I would consider putting it on eBay (with a reserve) but not before I had it appraised by a top quality auction house. I suspect that it's worth quite a lot more than the original price.

Does the Antique Road Show have a site? You might be able to email pictures to one of their people for an appraisal. Be careful ....... they'll try to buy it. :)

My famliy has a couple that look exactly like that one. I thought they were Cypress Wood.
My first black eye came from that table as did my brother and sister. We ended up keeping a blanket on it while we were kids so we wouldnt get so beat up.

I thought maybe it was some sort of cupress to begin with, but I have 2 smaller tables out of cypress , and this one is quite a bit darker on the underside, not light like my other 2. Maybe its what we use to call red heart cypress in La.?????? I don't really know. Thanx, maybe I won't call it Exotic, I'll just call it a wood table. Its got some really neat looks in the wood itself. Later, Cajun

Maybe it will end up at the airboat swap meet in March at GTO. LOL

It has sat in my garage for 6 years already. Its not the only thing his wife gave me, I got his turkey cll, Belguim Browning 30-6, skinning knives and some other items. I wouldn't know what else to do with it. None of his kids wanted it. Maybe one of mine might, haven't thought about that. Maybe????????? Later, Cajun
