just removed my floor to clean and de-rust the metal on my stand. Had to do it last year also, the floor is Al and the stand steel, is there anything I can use between the two that might slow down the rubbing and rusting. I plan on filling the holes and using pop rivits unless there might be a better way..

A lot of folks use expanded metal in steel and just weld or braze it to the tubing. It works well and lasts as long as the seat package will.

Alternatively you can try welding some small tabs to the inside of the steel tubing. Then drill them to fit your rivets. Next put a nylon or other plastic washer on top of the Al, between the Al and the steel and then on the back up side of the steel tab as well. Add your backup washer and set the rivet. They even make plastic washers that have an insert to fit in the rivet hole so the sides of the rivet dont touch the steel either.

Alternative to that you can just drill the steel and use the plastic washers but rivet right into the steel tubing. If you use stainess rivets you might notice less galvanic action results than using aluminum rivets.

I'm sure there are other ways as well. Somebody will chime in with a fix thats just right for ya.

We just weld 1/4" fender washers to the tubing & use stianless steel 1/4 20 bolts & aircraft nuts to attach the floor panels.
