Hi all, i just joined this site last nite.
i reeally like how everyone help,s each other.
well i would like to build a mini, and i never have before. this will be the first air boat in my area. i do have so many questions.
first since i will be boating on the snake river, and most areas i will go will be deeper waters.
i would like to go fast as well, say at least 40 miles per hour.
also how wide should i go. i weigh 240.
im thinking about ordering the plans from that buggy site. should i go 6 feet wide?
and should i do a wrap around, so i dont sink from waves, from other boater,s and going up stream against the current?
should i make the hull deeper to help from water getting in?
i have so many things to con figure. i will be using this fishing, and crusing around the lake.
on engine should i go with lawn mower, or snow mobille?
money is a issue here as well, i think that s why i really like the idea of a mini.
after watching the viedo of the green boat, i was hooked!!!!!!! lol. i think i have asked enough question,s i hope i dont bore you all. thankyou in advance.... Jeff.

40mph is asking alot of a mini. there a guy on here named papee(sorry if thats wrong) I think he use his boat in the river. you might be better off finding a small but wide jon boat then put you a cage and a engine on it. more of the mini guy will get on here and let you know more. I still new to all this also

My e-mail address is jrd_5@yahoo.com, about going 40 miles a hour, can i go bigger with out alot of cost?
if i stay with a mini, how fast can thoose go?
i do like some boats i have seen.
tx again.........

There is a lot to think about when you're working with these low horsepower rigs. You are always running on the edge of it planing or not. Size of the engine vs the size of the hull is very important. If your engine is to heavy for your hull you will take to much water and it will be harder to get on plane. Same thing with oversizing the hull, if you make the hull too big, you will add extra weight and also cause more drag from surface area and could also make it hard to plane.

Wider is not always better, you have to research your setup and decide what is best for your application. If money and experience is a concern, it is best to stick with a direct drive setup and make it work. Keep in mind that you are limited in prop size by the width of your hull. You can't have a prop that is wider than your hull. So planning what prop you will need to make the needed thrust to get your boat out of the water is also very important.

When designing your engine stand, make sure you make it so it can be easily changed to shorten it if you decide to go with a reduction unit later on. I would also make the cage to specs that will allow you to put on a prop that is the width of your hull, make it as high as the width of your hull. This will allow you to experiment with other engines and props later on.That's about all I got for now, these are all my opinions in my experience with the minis, others may have other ideas and the input or discussion of any of my thoughts are welcome.

:D
