Im looking for a heli coil I have a 0470 and someone put a heli coil in one of the jugs well its came out when i changed the plugs and i cant seem to find one at any of my local stores. its for the 7/8s plug I was really looking forward to riding this weekend :(
 
where are you located ?? i have a heli coil kit for aircraft if the threads arent damage.
 
I've looked all over today for a helicoil no luck :cry: Man I just bought this boat found out the piston was broke put a new jug and piston in it. I pulled the plugs out when i found out that the piston was broke to do a compressin test on all the cylinders and one of the jugs had a helicoil and it pulled out when i took the plug out. I havent even got to hit the water in this thing im so bummed what a nice weekend to be on the water. If anyone else has any idea where i could get a helicoil please let me know! Thanks John
 
I had this happen on a Lycoming. I called the local A&P to replace the coil. When he looked at the cylinder the threads were too bad to install another helicoil. He stated that once one comes out it is time for a insert. He redrilled and tapped the cylinder and installed a insert and I never had another problem after that.

I bought the helicoil kit from napa, 18mm thread. It wasn't cheap but I make sure to keep it on the boat in case of emergencies.

All aircraft engines and GPU's have heli coils in the spark plug
holes..I fix them all the time 8)

I've tryed 2 Napas no luck. :x
