need opinions on continental 90 gpu's

I'd love to have another one.

On a superlight "peanut hull" as Rick calls them, I think there a great little motor.
We used to have one.
Box stock 90 on a small superlight Gieger built Palm Beach deckover.
That little rig would frog all night on one OMC can of gas.
Sometimes I might have to jump down and switch tanks on the way back to the landing. Sometimes it would make the trailer with-out sputtering.

It certainly would'nt go anywhere and everywhere, but would always take you out there and back again.

Yup,
I dig'em.

I assume we are talking about a PE 90 gpu

Great little motors, had one on a Frannie Taylor 10 footer 15 or 20 years back!

That little boat would take you just about anywhere you needed to go, as long as you kept the load respectable and it would do it on just a few gallons of gas!

Will someday build another boat similar to it and would not be ashamed to power it with a 4 cylinder GPU!

When my last kid was around 13 YO maybe a bit younger I bought him a 90HP 4 cylinder GPU on a little 10' Palm Beach deckover. No electrical system. We added an alternator and a battery later. Never did add a starter.

The motor was either a new engine or a new rebuild. Super clean and responsive. It would on really hot days get hot and start to cow down when running dry ground much. We did a Slick 50 treatment and that was the end of the heat problem. Could lay your hand on the cylinders while after running and it wouldnt blister ya even.

One of the coolest little boats I have ever seen. PErformance with his scrawny butt in the seat sure did push my DD 455 buick really hard and in a few cases he left me sitting somewhere wondering about selling the boat and leaving him at home next time LOL.

IN the right hull that 90 is one tough little engine. Dead cheep to run, and worth its weight in gold to a real frogger.
