Need part # for Napa Gold oil filter for zz383 crate motor

Just curious.. Why don't you like the AC filter for that motor?
No real reason. I heard NAPA gold is the same as WIX (or Hastings, I forget) and that's supposed to be a high quality filter.

I run the Fram HP-4 ....... it gives you nearly another quart of oil capacity.

Is HP-4 the part number for the ZZ383? If so, I'll just pick up one at Wally World.

What ever happened to the PH13 for a small block Chevy? Thats all I have ever run in them.

As far as I know, the Fram HP-4 will fit most SBC's. Pick up one at Wal Nuts and compare the gasket surfaces,
If they're the same, fill that sucker up with oil and screw it on. If not, you can return it. :)

If you pick up the HP-4 check the threads as well.. I thought on the zz motor the threads were different. Well maybe not the threads but the whole size. I didn't try the HP-4 but I did try a couple other Fram filters that fit SBC and the hole size was different so I stayed with the AC.

I thought the AC filter was the best?? Because it has the 12 micros?? I do know the manual recommends a AC PF25 but that filter is no longer available they changed the number to PF 454 and I get mine a Autozone for less than $4.

What are the micros of the Fram?? If it's a better filter I am all for it!! Let us know what you find out..

Airduds question for you.. Did you get your zz383 from Floral City Airboats? If so what heads does it have on it? Are they the GM fast burns or Eldelbrocks? Just curious..

I got the HP4. Fit right up. I wanted the AC 932 because it holds two quarts but advanced auto didn't have it in stock.

Thanks Olf Art for the number! Thanks airduds for trying it and letting me know it works! I have always liked fram filters but after trying a couple that didn't fit I has agruvated

Does any one know the micros on the fram filters?

Blues, I really don't know. I change my filter once between regular oil changes. I suspect that a lot of condensation collects there on an
airboat so I consider it cheap insurance. The HP stands for high performance, so it's probably about as good as Fram makes.

Thanks Olf Art!! Your right it is cheap insurance and a real good idea to change it in between oil changes!I am going to start doing that.

I have to go to Wally World with the wife today anyways so at least now I have something to get to make the trip less boring.. :D
