I'm a new airboat owner ( I have operated them before, but this is the first one that is mine). So, here's the info on the AB. its a 13'x7.5' aluminum hull with a DD 350ci SBC. Its spinning a 72" Whirl Wind 2 blade right now. What I'm looking for is some information on how to "budget friendly" put a gear or belt reduction on it I was hoping for a 2.55:1 or 2.68:1. I am well capable of getting the Motor elevation down to accommodate the increase for the reduction box. (I'm a welder fabricator for over 20 years) The major problem right now is finding one that isn't out of budget. I have all of the Machine tools and equipment to build one but by the time I figure in the Raw Materials, Bearings, and Shafts I'm over $1k (and that's without my time figured in). I'm sure that there's another way but finding a used one is just been tough for me. Is there a better way to locate one that I can get for $1500 or less? Thanks for any advice that you may have.
