New airboater

Joined last year when I started thinking about getting an airboat and have found a lot of information and had some good laughs reading the post here. Just wanted to introduce myself as I have made a trade and now own an airboat and will need lots of advise and some help for sure.

My name is Eddie and I'm in South Louisiana.

Just Traded a Bad Boy Buggy for an 2016 dragonfly airboat with the G13BB 100hp motor. Fine looking boat with nearly new poly, mint aluminum trailer, all powder coated stainless rigging, trashed 2.588:1 gear box, 3 blade LUGA prop.....R102 73" in need of one blade.

I ordered the new gearbox and a replacement blade. I think the damaged blade has nearly no structural damage but the stainless leading edge appears to have impacted an air born bolt and dislocated it mostly from the blade. My plan is to remove it, evaluate the ding in the carbon fiber and if solid fill it with west system epoxy and re-attach the leading edge. I am aware of the danger and will use extreme caution. I will likely start a thread on the blade evaluation. I would love to send it back to the factory for repair but shipping to the Ukraine I am thinking will be extraordinary.

Boat is a two seat and weights in about just under 1,000 lb. 82" bottom and a measured 13' 2" to the end of the welded on grass rake. I'll try to post a few pics. Boat is just the right size for running the swamp by my camp on Blind River......motor/gearbox/blade may end up being sold and replaced with more HP.

Oh, and I believe there to be an electrical issue as the motor will either start and run perfectly or turn over with no attempt at ignition. Fuel pump comes on as is should and immediately starts pumping thru the return line back to the tank......possible fuel pressure regulator issue not allowing enough pressure....... Pulled a plug and no spark at that time....so I'm thinking...power, ground, cam sensor, crank sensor or ecu. Scanner should be here next Monday to begin the real trouble shooting.

Again, look forward to becoming a part of Southern Airboat.

Eddie.

Plans are to get it running then see if it will do what I want it too..... run the cypress swamp with two people without hanging up. If it won’t I will make a power train change....i’ll mostly be running thick vegetation in some water, not lots of dry ground to run where I am....but the thick grass may be worse than dry ground I don’t know. It gives my Godevil hell till you cut a trail thru it.

What do you guys use to host your photos. I haven’t picked another site since photo bucket held everybody hostage.

Got the boat running in August. New gearbox, new prop blade, rebuilt wiring harness, new ECM, new coil packs, plugs, new crank sensor.........my guess is the boat was sunk in its previous life.

Boat runs pretty good. Will run some dry with one person and will run anything with a 1/4" of water and two people. Will plane in deep water with 4 people. Super nimble and great in the trees. Now I just need 150 more HP.

From a handling standpoint it is so much different from a 15x7 big block boat. And by different I mean better.

It is seriously the best handling airboat I have ever been in.

I haven’t tried to repair the blade with the damaged leading edge yet. Tooooo busy right now.

Eddie.
