It was asked that I pass this along. Heres a link the actual bill:
http://flsenate.gov/session/index.c...Mode=Bills&SubMenu=1&Year=2005&billnum=sb1954
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Senate Bill 1954 (by Sen. Posey)and House Bill 1369 (by Rep. Seiler) are filed in the legislature for action to change the ordinary high water line for fresh water rivers and lakes, especially the St. Johns River. These bills would transfer state lands held in trust for the public to development opportunities for real estate agents and adjoining landowners (mostly agricuture operations). These bills would destroy our marshes, protected wetlands, wading bird feeding, natural spawning areas for our freshwater fisheries, and contribute to the further degradation of water quality throughout the St. Johns River. Please act now. The bills are available for your download at flsenate.gov. We are building a coalition of concerned conservation groups and citizens that will number in the thousands to oppose passage of these bills. We need your support. Get busy. Call Senator Posey and Rep Seiler. Better yet fax, e-mail or write them expressing your opposition. Stay in touch. This is the third time in the past several years that large landowners have tried to take public lands for the greedy purpose of development. Be a part of this opposition. Call your own legislators and express your opposition.
