New Cam design coming for DD Cadillacs.

Cadillac Performance Pts.

Greetings. We've had a rash of calls lately of folks who still use the cadillacs in a DD application. I've teamed up with Stan Justus (our CUP head, cam & carb designer) again to develop a camshaft that will make peak torque by 2800 to 3000 rpm. It will be totally worthless not much farther up, but is geared toward the DD crowd. I am doing a DD engine for a customer so it'll be really neat to see who she does. Our 10-1 crates already make about 540 to 550 ft @ 2800, but in a 9-1 deal, set up for max rpm there, we can still gain. We will force oil the thrust in the rear also.
The objective on this cam is for people to be able to use stock rockers, springs and all the other junk we typically throw away. What the springs do will dictate what we can get by with. I won't use them on customer engines, but I will research and see if others can "get by" with them. The guide tops will still have to be whacked to clear the retainers so it's not a "drop in". We are hoping that the stock spring will handle it at 3000 w/o float.

Specs are ready, I'll retrieve them Monday. Forgot yesterday. Where we gotta watch is short durationand high lift. A weak ass spring like a stock Caddy may let the lifter "pitch" off the lobe, even at 3000. Taint good for em. Excess shimming may put it into coil bind. Good springs break stock rockers. Trashes stock valves. There are a couple non-adjustable valve trains but there again, you get into the hardware store washers and cotter pin rigged up deal there when it comes to adjustment. Something I can't preach engough against. We do offer our roller tip rocker assembly with pushrds for $599. Since you have to have the heads off to trim the guides, you can easily machine the .350" need off of the rocker bosses needed for proper geometry and run some decent springs too. Still, it's inexpensive as far as some builds go and a darn good system. .560 lift is MAX on the roller tip Comp Magnums.

thats pretty cool richard, there are def. alot of folks out there doing direct drive caddy's...............so alot of people stand to gain - thats for sure. :)
