NEW GUY ON THE BOARD

Tide Runner

Well-known member
Hi, I just wanted to drop a line and say "hello " I have been reading your threads for some time now and thought I might as well join... I've been airboating for about 15 years now and to date I've built or had a hand in building about 6 differant boats... all hunt type boats, if it wont run dry I don't want it. might as well have a bay boat..haha look forward in meeting you guys someday.
Wayne :)

Nice to hear from you Wayne. You should come the Melbourne run and meet everybody.

BTW what type of hunt boat do you run? What is your setup?

Adam

Thanks Adam.. I/m not sure that I can make it over to Melbourne that weekend, I will if I can, might be over at kissimmee getting things ready for bow season. My boat is a 13ft rivermaster with a 520 conteninal conversion with a longer duration cam bulit by J.C.Stanley with a 750 double pumper demon carb and a 78" wirlwind stump puller.

Thanks Matt, I/m not a smart guy but will find a way to make it work... most of my experiance is with gpu and 350 chevy's and caddy's dd and with a 1.55 to one 480 lycoming gear box converision.

Tide Runner...yep know what you mean. We hunt over there near Kissimmee too. Time is running out, bow season is right around the corner.

I guess with that rig you might make up onto the hill huh? :D :D

yes it does pretty good but like anything eles you can get it stuck may take a little more, and usually not too hard to get it out. :)

I have a buddy who runs a 13' with a 520. It is an impressive boat. I have a 13'6 cottonmouth with an angle valve 470. Definitely not a show boat(I tend to spend a little time doing fiberglass work on it :D ) but it is a good solid hunt boat that gets me back to where I want to go and back again.

Tide Runner, Hows that longer duration cam working out for you on that 520 conversion? Is that a re ground GPU cam or something different? J.C.Stanley definitely builds good motors. If your swinging a 78 inch prop with a J.C. 520 you got to be pushing some ponies.

Blackpowerscout, My brother has a 13'6 cottonmouth w/a 500 caddy w/1.55 x1 aircraft gear box that we bulit two seasons ago and it runs really good he also has a 78" stump puller set on 20 degrees and it pushes really good.. cottonmouth makes a great boat.

buck thuster, the longer duration cam works great about 1000 rpms up its not that good on idle it will load up some if i/m out frogging the cam was new I dont know if its something he came up with on his own or if it was out of a fuel injected 520 I should be with the cam hot mags and demon carb around 310 hp

Tide Runner,

Welcome!

Mom in law lives in Palmetto. Isn't Manatee County one of the rougher places to run, (muffler law)?

Maybe make it up to ride soon.

Basketcase

Rick and basketcase Thanks for the welcome, Rick, J C is a heck of a nice man and really knows aircraft engines.. my carb sets in front of my engine.. I dont have the gisu cylinders.. too bad for me he started out with my carb on top like the gpu's but I was having too much lag time when I guned it. So I changed it to the front and it made all the differance ..no lag.. ... Basketcase, Yes Palmetto or I should say manatee co. is not airboat friendly... and it's all salt water so not very good to run. But when I do go out around here I go to the north part of the county ..no people living on the water front yet anyway, and I go on a low tide so its kinda fun.
