Guys and girls, I just wanted to introduce myself after lurking on here for a while. I live out in Geneva and have had my boat for about three years. My wife likes to gator hunt and was sick of always counting on others for a lift on their boats, so we bought our own with another friend that she hunts with also. Seems like she gets drawn each year and I get stuck driving. Usually ride between 415 and 520, hard to miss the boat as it has an American Flag running down the entire side of the hull and is still setup like a tour boat. Two singles up top and two benches in front. Great for hunting and hauling decoys, but an absolute mother to get unstuck, ( got a bad habit of pounding trails and running in areas that I should know better). We just had a new cage and back half rigging done by the Brooks brothers, (Tommy and Terri). The guys did a hell of a job and built the whole thing in stainless. Missed the races on Harney because we were picking up the boat and pitching the prop. Anyways, enough rambling, great site with a bunch of good info. If anyone sees me on the river, flag me down and beers are on me.

Welcome to the Forum, Loebs. Nice to have ya' aboard.

That ain't exactly the family dog your bride is holding there ...... what did that one weigh ?

Welcome to the site.Come by Jolly Gator 1st Wed every month at 730 for Seminole County Airboat Club Meetings.

Welcome aboard. Looks like y'all are having better luck than I am this year with gators. It's been tough out on puzzle and harney.

That one in the pic is a small one from last year, had an extra tag left and needed one eating size. 6'8" I think and I don't remember the weight. This year we got one out of Jessup the first week 10'9" and about 425lbs. Some guys from work pulled a 12'4" out of lake George that they say bottomed out a 600lb. scale. Still waiting on pictures though. I know that I need to get up to some of the SCAC meetings, hope to make the next one, also the poker run on the 30th If I can get off work.

So far we have got a 10' 2" from jessup and still have one tag there to fill.2 tags for puzzle and 2 for harney. We have been out several nights and come up empty handed
even baiting hasn't panned out very well. The next SCAC meeting is Oct. 3rd.Hope to meet y'all.

G550, the pressure and traffic have increased 10 fold this yr. I tell you FWC sent a memo to the gators and they read it. Has soon as you catch them with the light they are going down and they are just not sitting on the bottom. They are moving off. We have taken a few out of puzzle, 11 ft 6 in being the big one. I can tell you that there are area where we would see 50 gators in 1/4 mile and they are gone or not showing there eyes. Hope to go out tonight. Last Fri night, there was at least 20 boats at HWY 50. The traffic at 46 has been almost as bad. Still see some 12 footers during the day, but not able to get close to them at night. After we tag out in Puzzle(if we tag out) we are headed to LK Poinset and they are more leery over there.

Ran into Danny the other day, he said you guys were headed out Sunday night. Don't give up.

My son is in Joplin Mo, Started working for CFI. Today he is on the road with his trainer. Keep on Trucking!

Almost forgot, Welcome Loebs

WELCOME TO OUR LITTLE POND ! GREAT PLACE TO BE ! LOOKS LIKE SHE GOT THE HARD PART FIGURED OUT YOU JUST KEEP DRIVING ! :D

Deepsea, I hear ya on that. I have never seen the gators as spooked as they are this year. Even opening night first week you couldn't get near them. I know that there were a few people scouting them on jessup, but there wasn't that much pressure on them. The only way we have been sucessfull, is to set a bait and attach it to a an ofshore spinning rod with 50-100 lb. braid and move off it about 200-250 yards. You can watch the little ones beat the larger ones to it and you have to jerk it away from them. Hope to hit it this weekend. My partner form the station got a 10'10" from the area by the weir/airboat jump just north of Lk. Washington, said that there are still a few in between there and winder. Good luck.
