New Mini airboat Assoc.

Is this a landed club? If it is a chartered and/or landed club its a great idea.

If it is just a domain name, on line club, why would you want to take the information gained on Southern Airboat and go somewhere else instead of making Southern Airboat grow?

Scotty

This is America, You have the freedom to do what you want to do. If you build it, the people will come , "if they like it". Only time will tell.

Getting your info from one source can be okay. Getting your info from multile sources is better for me. It gives your the opportunity to make choices.

Chuck, Looks like there is going to be a big airboat event at Loughmans this month, the event to support the service men and women. Are you bringing a couple of them minies along? Where are you located?

I put the site up to cover exclusively Mini's. I am hoping that it will grow and be chartered hence the name. We'll just have to see if it goes anywhere. My intention wsa not to take away anything from SA, just hoping this thing catching on. A site that is exclusively about the mini's may get the word out to a larger group. Some people may not want to spend the money for a big boat and may be tured off by the cost of building or purchasing their first airboat. This may be a stepping stone for some people but others as I did will always stay with a mini.

I intend to give SA and the crew here full credit for the definition of a Mini and will use that definition as my platform. If anyone has any objections please feel free to email me and discuss them. I feel that, since I am in the Internet Technologies business, I can do this new hobby/sport some good by getting the word out. Thanks, Dave

Looks like a nice site and a good place to get information on low horse powered engines. You might want to have a different person proof read the pages though. It always looks better if the spelling is correct and the sentence structure flows smoothly.

competetion is good, but dont forget where ya came from, airboats an airboat imo

I don't see where this would be a competition and would not even think about doing if I thought it were. I have been a mini guy for 20 years and don't expect to move on to a larger boat. If it were decided here that it was in competition with SA I will take the site down without giving it a second thought. I do hope that the two can work together for the good of the hobby/sport. I like it here, my only wish is to turn more people on to airboating that can't afford a full size rig.

Most of the stuff on there is just filler text, I only started working on the site less than 24 hours ago, it will all be replaced and checked by my spelling/grammar Nazi here at home.

I have a big boat and I love to build minis if I have a problem with the 0540 I will by all means come to this site for questions or just to bulls@#t about stuff, but I think it is great to have a sight supported by some of the same knowledgable guys on here to discuss and post just mini site besides if you google mini airboat southern airboat doesn't come up except as a forum, so I beleive more people will come to the mini site.. Just my opinion

well now that youve started a mini airboat site i guess you will have the last word on what the definition of what a mini is good luck with the site dude

I already have my opinion of what a mini is but that's the point of the Association, to decide on the true definition of a Mini and promote the hobby. As in anything like this, no one person should decide what that definition will be unless he wants to have a "this is my association and that's it" deal and be the only one in it.

Edit: Just a little background. I found this site a while back while trying to find information on my mini, There were only a few threads on minis to search from. There was no separate forum for minis then so I asked my questions in the airboat forum at times feeling uncomfortable posting questions about my mini in the big boys forum. I asked Rick to create the Mini forum so we could discuss the mini without clogging up the other threads. You have all made me feel at home since and I thank you for that. I take pride in belonging here and being involved in the great things this site does for airboating.

papee thats true but it will be cool to have the catagory at the shows this year i like lookin at em i kinda have one mini boat with a pe 90 fun boat go any where smaller hull than some minis ive seen , but if your not a good boat driver you dont want to operate it its to the point of scary, but iguess that why i think its fun has a pucker power factor of 10

Papee, I think the site is a great idea. At least if someone does a search of the internet for info on a mini, they stand a better chance of finding your site or SA site. And I am sure there will be alot of mention on your site about the SA site so it could be another avenue for folks to hook up with both sites. Good luck with it and hopefully it will get to rolling pretty quick.Thanx for taking the time and efforts to enlighten other folks about minis.Thanx, Cajun

Hey Plum, Jimmy Newton from Broward came by today and i asked him about a
Mini class for the Broward Show in March. He said get some boats together. He
will talk to the club members about adding a mini class. I will donate the trophy's
for one class. If y'all decide on 2 classes, we can find someone to furnish more
trophy's. Get your boat together. :)
I advertise with SA and I plan to advertise on Miniairboatasso.. Many Members
on SA give advise on the forum to help other members and non members with
information about their airboats, and at the same time, hoping they will buy their
products. It's a form of advertising and the forum let's us see what airboaters
want and need. This leads to development of new and better products.
I welcome the Mini Airboat Assoc. Thanks, Chuck

Chuck, Bishop Wright (Pres. FAA) will help us too ...... we just need some rules. We can always modify them the next year or so if needed.
I've read every post on the Mini's, and here's what I see:

Class #1: Single cylinder, any displacement

Class #2: Two cylinder, up to 1000cc. (you and Paul Dixon)

Class #3: Engines of more than 2 cylinders, 750cc. max.

In '09 we might even have a 750cc. Mini Raceboat class ..... who knows, but at least it's a start.

Papee ... Whaddaya think ? Please say so if you disagree.

Hey Olf, sounds good to me. We have to have a starting point. Why don't you
put it up for a vote. Let the forum decide. :D If we don't like the out-come, we can
post one of these.    :o Thanks, Chuck

Olf I thinks it's fine, you and I have always had pretty much the same idea of what a mini was/is.

OK, cool. I hate to keep starting new threads (I always worry about Rick's bandwidth) but in order to be fair I'll try to start a new
thread so that everyone has a chance to express their opinion on this. Thanks !

Chuck I will pay for any other trophies needed just get in touch with me to work out the details.

Thanx for stepping up to the plate, both of ya'll Chuck and Papee. Now this can get interesting, I feel that having a mini class will pull some folks out of the wood work that normally wouldn't attend a reg. airboat gathering, now there might be something else of interest to them. Sounds like a great win-win deal. Thanx again guys. cajun
