New Prop what difference!

I put the H- Series 3 bladed Sensenich prop on my boat, which is a 12.6 foot alluminum with a 520 Aircraft on it. Man what a difference! After 3 tries at getting the pitch right while the boat was on the trailer, I hit the throttle and the boat almost jumped off the trailer. I said holy cow. So to the river me and AirGator went to try it out. I left the boat ramp and was so ready to hit the gas I couldn't wait. When I finally hit the gas I could not believe how quick it took off. My boat ran the hill anyway but now it screams across the hill. Very Very satisfied.

GatorChaser, from everything I'm hearing Sensenich is State of the Art right now if you want to put on a new prop. Paul Dixon, a very respected builder up in Bainbridge, GA told me about the performance jumps he's seen with them. He's sold on them.

Sensenich has been making A/C propellers for years ..... experience counts. I have a new Sensenich "Q" 3-blade sitting in the box on my shop floor waiting for me to finish some engine work. I can hardly wait to try it out.

Big Feather - Let us know how well that "Q" blade works. And I am really impressed with Sensenich as well. They really seem to work well for acceleration and getting that rig moving fast.

But make sure to let us know about the Q blade. What were you running before you parked her for repairs/tune up?

Pat, the story I keep hearing is Push .... from Basketcase, to Paul Dixon, to GatorChaser in his recent post. Everybody is sayin' that the new Sensenich props 'push' like hell. Works for me !!

The "Q" blade design is for 'quiet'. The blades have a cool scimitar shape that I think must walk the shock waves off of the prop tips. I'm anxious to hear it .... or not hear it.

My old airboat is nothin' fancy. It's a 14' fiberglass Gillieo with a pre-'86 SB Chevy on a Franklin belt drive. In truth, even with headers and a 4 barrel Edelbrock it probably only makes around 260 HP. But when it goes back together, I'm gonna be real disappointed it I don't have the first 82 DB small block airboat anywhere.

GatorChaser, I'm happy for ya' man. I love it when a plan comes together

Gator - Do you have the "Q" style or just a normal H series?

I do like those sensenich blades. It seems they have better acceleration than my 2 blade power shift signature. Would love to get the hub for a three blade and get another blade to try it. It would be cheaper than a complete sensenich.

I have pictures of a sensenich that ate a screw driver at about 2200 rpms. Put a hole in oil cooler and in the blade, but she pushed on in at 1900-2000 with no additional signs of damage. Well built without a doubt.

I got a WhirlWind the AB200 hope to try it out tommarow. Its got to better then the wood. My wift told me NO MORE PROPS THIS YEAR!!!!
5th prop in a year. 1 ivo junk 3 wood now this one.

I had a wood paddle prop. That's all everyone ran in the day was that or a stick prop. I have an H series now. I believe any composite prop will do because of the ajustable pitch. All I know is that that mamma jamma is BAD!

I don't see why not, A1 .... call 'em. You'll probably have to give-up a couple of inches in diameter like I did to get to a 3 blade, but the folks at the factory are very helpful. They won't sell to you direct, though. Ya' gotta buy it through one of their dealers. I don't have a problem with that.

Nether do I ,you have got to support the airboat shops or there will not be any around. I give them a call.

There are a lot of 6 cylinder aircraft running 3 blade sensenich narrows around here, usually a 72". I bought one for my new boat for a 520 continental, although I went to a 69" for a little bit quicker snap. I have heard caddy dd motors turn up the 72 to 74 in. 3 blades real well. I have seen 2 3 blade cypress series powershifts on 6 cylinder aircrafts, a 68" and a 70", you would probably need a really strong motor to be able to spin a 3 blade signature there Marshmaster. I was talking to a fellow yesterday that just went from a wood wideblade to a 72" 3 blade on his 540 and he was loving the performance of it. He had to move the rudder supports further back to clear the extra distance the composite prop sits from the flywheel .

Larry, a lot of people underprop their boats, thinkin' that they can't turn the bigger ones .... only to find out later that they wish they'd gotten a bigger one.

It's all about pitch with an adjustable prop. Get the biggest one that will fit right behind your transom, and then crank in as much pitch as your engine can handle. You may later make some mods to your engine that give you more horsepower ..... just crank in a little more pitch.

I got my WhirlWind AB200 with the SP blades on my boat today. Took it out to the lake MAN! It's like I got a whole new engine on my boat.
Cntry141 I set that thing just like you told me to. I do thank I will be very happy with the BUBBA BOAT now. Now some new frog spit and some fresh paint. It will be a new boat. With used parts.

That's a great line UnkaBub!!!! That's what Laura and I are going to have thanks to the advice of the same people. ;) There's some pretty dang smart folks here on this board.

Just found out today that one of them is suggesting a 5 blade warp drive prop for my 350dd. I know your dad uses the same hull we have, (14' Old Timer) what is his motor/prop setup?

For us, it just seems like a lot of money to put into such an old boat. And our brand new F.A.P. wood prop has only about 20 hours on it - And that really put a dent in our budget that we are STILL feeling. But like you say so well... "A new boat made of used parts"... :) That may change our way of looking at it once we get ours back together and running... in just a couple more days! :D

MOOD if you upgrade to a warpdrive get the longest one you can and set the ptch accordingly. That way when you upgrade in the future to the beltdrive you can add more pitch and/ or more blades and maybe a stacked hub(turbo drive). You will be able to set the pitch to where you can wind your engine up a little more and every little bit will help up to a point. You will not be a quiet boat but you will go better and can work on quiet later. You could do the same thing with a sensenitch or whirlwind or powershift. Adjustable is the way to go. Plan for the future and build it it one piece at a time.

you will only be limited by your dd being left hand rotation to a belt drive but who knows they may get the bugs outta the lightning drive one day and you will be headed that way.
