New Toyota 5.7 v8

Olf Art

The engine that Toyota is using in NASCAR is a push rod engine thats the rules I don't believe the new engine in the tundra is a push rod engine from what I was told
I have a good friend at work and his brother is a big wig for toyota he did say that they are coming out with a Diesel for the Tundra though.

Well I thought that ..... I've never seen a pushrod Toyota motor. They must have developed one just for NASCAR rules.

Sad to say the thing will probably fly, but that might be what it takes to make Ford and GM get off their butts. olf

They did and they have been running it in the truck series and it's been doing well and maybe one of these days they will put that push rod engine in something for the general public and we can then have it to try for an Airboat motor because push rod motors develop the kind of toque we need for Airboats so who knows what the Future may bring us , one thing about Toyota is they are reliable.

Ford,Dodge and GM better hope Toyota dosen't start selling a 1-ton diesel truck over here. They would run forever and probably sip fuel.

boblee74

They are supposed to introduce it in late o7 or early o8 they all ready havethe motor it 's been around for years over sea's so they all ready have all the bugs worked out and I think he said it's going to be twin turboed so it should give the big three a run for there money

There is nothing wrong with a push rod motor I have yet to see any over head valve motor out perform a pushrod motor below 7,000RPM. Remember Nextel Cup will make sure the new Toyota is right there before the first race. They have an advantage like Dodge did When Dodge built the new R block they looked at and copied and slightly improved the Chevy SB2 motor and the Ford Yates head. The biggest thing they did was have Caterpillar build their block and incorporate the piston cooling nozzles! OH yea the Toyota has a Chevy bellhousing bolt pattern! I must state I hate and despise Nextel/Winston cup racing. It's not racing it's marketing and entertainment! It's the business world form of WWF racing. Hell even Roush stated that Nextel cup is like the WWF.

Oh well the Japs are known for copying things and then making it better I guess we will see what they do with a push rod engine

A Chevy bolt pattern. That is brilliant. :) It's that willingness to think that far ahead that is making them a world leader. They'll be able to offer replacement engines for anything from a pickup to a generator that has a GM engine on it.

Brilliant.

Just remember Chevy was the brilliant one because a Small block, Big block, V6 and straight six plus the Gen III all use the same bolt pattern. Dodge was second they have a small block and big block bolt pattern but with out a doubt Ford is last they have as many different patterns for a 351 alone as Dodge and Chevy have for all their motors!

I'm not taking away from GM, Dave. I was just saying that the 'new kid on the block' was smart enough to pick up on who #1 is and make their stuff compatible.

You'll never see a Toyota motor on my boat though.

Boblee, I'm gonna run this ol' small block til it pukes.
I'd rather rebuild it five times than put a 'slope' motor on my boat ..... .

I'm just saying Toyota might own GM or a large portion of it. Like Dodge and Diamler and Ford and Mazda etc.

From my understanding Toyota is supposed to be working with CAT diesels for there new power plant :D Just what I have heard from a reliable source

gm and toyota share technology back and forth alot of it is pushed torward the isuzu line hence the duramax also the small 4cyl under 2.2 l are all developed by the toyota company and belive it or not as computer geeks that the japs are they use alot of gm computers to run there fuel sippin beer cans i did alot of r&d with gm up in lancing michigan and it is not rare to se som japs with trd badges over seeing the engineerring departments advances in technology
