Hey guys, I have been bit by the bug hard and am looking for my first boat. I am so glad I found this site, I cant believe what I have learned in just a few days. I have been looking at airboats for sale on the internet and this one caught my eye.

http://orlando.craigslist.org/boa/555705418.html

What do you guys think?

I am a big boy, 6'3", 275lbs. It will be used mainly by my wife and I, and another couple for hunting, fishing, and exploring. (maybe froggin, never did that). Any comments or advise on this one, or any type of boat I should be looking for would be GREATLY appreciated.

PS. When I do eventually find a boat, I will be launching mainly from Lox Rd., on the Broward/Palm Beach County line, if you anyone needs a good laugh... :)

Welcome to the forum ! Were glad you found us. Pull up a chair and make yerself at home.

If the other couple aren't both your size, it should do nicely.

Caddys come in several varieties from super to worthless, so get up with some fo the Caddy folks here and get their advice.

Good luck man, as you move ahead keep the questions coming, everyone here will try to help where they can.

Cowboy is right, it will cost you more money in the long run, if I had to do it over again I would of done it different, anyway welcome to the site and listen to these guys , drive em crazy with questions and you'll be a happy camper

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome and the comments!

I am looking in the $4000-5000 range for my first one. Then when I am over the learning curve and have hooked the wife, I can convince her to let me spend a little more $$$ ;)

Cowboy, thanks for the link, I emailed the seller, and it looks like both boats are not to far from each other, so I am going to try to look at both this Saturday.

Wish me luck!

NOT WANTING TO DIS NO ONES BOAT BUT THAT 220 BOAT DOESENT RUN AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS IT WONT EVEN RUN DRY AND HAS A SMALL KLUNCKING SOUND NOT WORTH THE ASKING PRICE AT ALL BECAUSE U WILL NEED A REBUILD OR A NEW ENGINE

Kngtut, welcome to the site. These guys will lead you in the right direction. if it's your first boat don't jump the gun, if you looking to spend only 4 to 5k be patient you can find that right deal. a boat like cowboy pointed out with a 220 or something of that nature would be a great boat, Kinda sucks to hear that bad news of that particular boat not being in good running condition, I thought that was gonna be a good deal for someone.

The flip side of that boat is, it likely wouldn't take much to put new bearings and whatever in it and she could live again. Depending on your abilities of course. Something to consider, you can always make a counter offer.

Scotty

I DID SPEAK TO THE OWNER THE OTHER DAY HE TOLD ME THAT INFO HIM SELF I DIDENT TALK $$$$$$$ TO HIM BUT A COUNTER OFFER WOULD BE THE RIGHT THING TO DO $$$ TALKS AND CASH SCREEMS
THE OVER ALL BOAT SEEMS TO BE GOOD JUST WHEN A 220 WONT RUN DRY IT MADE BE THINK TWICE

oh I am definitely taking this all in guys. Not in a hurry, and just looking right now. I would like to spend a little more up front, like some have suggested, in fact I really like the looks of this one. (except the color, but not a concern to me at this point)

But convincing the wife to sign off on it is a lot tougher. Anyone want to help me out and take her for a ride? (or at least have a couch I could hit for a week or so) :)

Don't know muck about Continentals but it looks to be well maintained. As for the hull they are very strong and sturdy perfect for a first boat. They float and handle great. Good luck on your search and hope the wife approves!!!!

Welcome to the board. Now if you looking for a $4,000 to $5,000 just hold out because that airboat is out there. I look at a airboat and talk to the own he wanted $4,000 I just talk to the guy who purchased the airboat for $1,800. I here GP units are easy to work on but I know car motor so that's why I have a caddy. Just keep looking
