Nitrous on an 0290

Does anyone know if a Lycoming 0290 will take a 25,50,or even a 75 shot of nitrous? Has anyone done it? All I need is a 25 shot really and it should run dry pretty good dont you think? Thanx for your info.

I have had nitrous on a 290 for about 12 to 15 bottles and then it blew. no jet in the line, just from the bottle. you can run nitro as long as it is a wet system.

What do you mean no jet, just from the bottle? You just had a line run from the bottle? Dry? I would never put a dry kit on anything. I wanna run like a wet 50 shot would be perfect.

Wouldn't overspeeding the prop be an issue with N2O2?
Unless you've got too much prop for the engine and want the nitros to boost it up to max (safe) RPM's :?

For $500-$550 you can get a universal 4 or 6 cylinder kit from N.O.S. that comes with jets and is adjustable from 50 75 125 hp. It is the small system with the small solenoids. The kits are complete with everything you would need, wires, switches, hoses, jets. Everything!. The only other thing you will need is an electric fuel pump with around 5 lbs of pressure. You could order a kit from Summit for about $600,but I buy them cheaper from a local shop. If you want I will check the part number for the kit and let you know. The easiest way to pick up the fuel is through the second outlet port of most spin on/off fuel water seperators. With this 75hp kit on a 260 hp 540 and a 3 blade H-series Sensenich I see it pick up about 250 RPM. Prop is set to spin about 2800. Just over 3000 on the bottle.
