No spark on Bendix mags

Lycoming 0290. Just installed Bendix mags that use an external coil. Just a 12v universal ignition coil. Not getting any spark from the coil. Bought two new coils and filed the points. Still no spark. Mags came off a running engine a few months ago

Not many of us running them dinosaurs. You should be able to spin them on the bench and get spark, check your wiring inside, it sounds like something that is grounded that shouldn't be, or something is not connected that should be.
