not a heart attack

I just wanted to send a note out to everyone - thanks for you prayers and support the last few days.

It's been rough. The good news is that my mom did not have a heart attack, but is suffering many of the symptoms of one.

the background for those who have not yet heard:
About a week ago, my dad put my mom in the hospital because she thought she was having a stroke. They tested for a few days, and found no stroke damage. They released her.

Symptoms did not go away, so Friday night (the night before the FAA meeting) she went back to the emergency room complaining of heart issues. By the end of the day Sunday, after passing a stress test, she was released again.

That's good news, but not good news - all at the same time. She still has some stroke and heart attack symptoms. We don't know what it is, and no doubt she'll be back into the hospital again really soon. This is her first time dealing with this kind of health issue, and the first time is the hardest when it comes to dealing face to face with your own mortality.

Today, she asked me to express thanks to Southern Airboat for the flower bouquet she got. It was sent by Basketcase and Ms.Wizard on behalf of all of Southern Airboat. And that gesture has really had an effect on her spirits and well being. Thanks you guys.

My older sister (Patty) is having heart tests done too this week, they are trying to find out why she suddenly began having seisures and episodes of passing out.

And my mom's brother just had open heart surgery last week, and is having another bypass done today.

All three of these family members were at Laura and my wedding in November. They got to meet many of you and many of you got to meet them.

It feels like the family is falling apart!!!! But we'll be ok. Thanks for your prayers y'all. And please keep these in your continued prayers!!!

:)

Sad to hear of the troubles but glad to hear it is maybe working out, I guess I missed the problem when it came up on here originally, dang I hate that.

Well best wishes to all of you and you got my number matt just call

I had the same issues but after EKG`s and a stress test it turned out to be acid reflux. Not saying that's whats wrong but they do have similar symptoms.I had chest pains and my left arm would go numb.

Thanks for your concern - Among her symptoms are a numbness on the left side (arm, leg & face) and a general fatigue feeling. She passed a stress test of her heart. We were kind of hoping that it would have failed, because then the doc's could get to work. You know, find something fixable.

it's disturbing to still not know what has her knocked down.

She's going back in tomorrow to see a vascular surgeon. My mom was a nurse for 30 years working for a vascular surgeon. Our amateur analysis is that it's some clot thing somewhere.

I just hope they find out what it is - Everglades Icon Pete suffered a stroke, and he's still not back on his feet after almost a year. The problem with a stroke, as I understand it, is that it hits you like a cotton ball. You barely feel it, but damage is happening and all you feel is "discomfort". By the time you think it's serious, the damage has been ALREADY done. I'm sure this is very over simplified and there are different strokes for different folks. LOL But we're trying to make sure this is not happening.

and sending out a general warning to everyone. Be aware of how you feel, and take action if need be.

Thanks again for your concern!

And there was not an original post about this.... this just came up over the weekend, and I attended the FAA meeting, Sitting quietly in the back, taking a few notes, but remembering that folks who are not members are not allowed/supposed to speak at the meeting. I accepted this, and was sitting there, but thoughts of my mom were in the front on my mind. At one point near the end of the meeting, the prez went around the room asking each club to speak out about their activities. When all of a sudden he asked if I had any comments. I was caught off guard. Not being prepared to speak AT ALL, I said that was on my mind (normal behavior for me!), and asked those who pray to say a prayer for my mom. I had said several silent prayers during the course of the meeting (you probably thought I was back there sleeping) and before and after also.

So that is how this got out there, since so many of them read southern airboat, I thought I'd update them all here, because it does appear some prayers have been aswered so far.... she's out of the hospital for now. And bring the rest of my Airboat Family up to speed as well.

Thanks to all.matt.

Thanks for the update Matt. I will continue to pray for you as well as your family. You know how to get a hold of us if you need anything. We are here.
Thanks Basket and Ms. Wizard for sending the flowers. That was a great gesture.

We'll certainly remember your family in our prayers.

Heart issues are very scarry! about six years ago I came home from work not feeling very well, laid down to rest and woke up two hours later covered in sweat, with numbness in my left arm, and with the weight of the world on my chest (quick self diagnosis: heart attack) Ambulance took me to the hospital and it turns out I had viral peri-carditis. (The lining around the heart had a viral infection)....talk about scared, and painful...I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
There are quite a few diffent things that cause un-explained chest pain, hope the Doctors find out what's wrong and put an end to you Moms.

Mood,

Dr. Jeff is in the house :computer: I figured out what is the matter with your mom  From the words of another Jeff...What we're gotta do is take a stick and poke around in there till we find the problem :D

I agree with Boblee post above that the Mood's have way too much heart, (especially your mom)! Please keep us updated.

I hope they figure out what is wrong with her and she is well soon and when she is Take her for an Airboat ride like I did with mine before Christmas, you can never spend to much time with them and my mom loved all the attention she got from all the great guys that went on the ride.
