Oceapoly

What can somebody tell me about this stuff, I have never used it, looking for some input, looks way better than using standard poly!

Thanks, Chris

Chris
OceaPoly is Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene or UHMW with a Kevlar fiberglass fabric embedded into one side of the polymer. OceaPoly requires no mechanical fasteners
OceaPoly does not expand or contract when hot or cold.
Lap shear test show that the bond strength on average is 1058 pounds per square inch before failure.

I have enclosed the lamination process for your reference. Please give me a call, I would like to know more about your boat and provide you a quote if interested. We offer 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" thick 4' x 10' sheets. We can do custom thicknesses and colors.

OceaPoly provides superior abrasion resistance, Impact resistance and cut resistance over HDPE and regrind polymers. Also, OceaPoly requires NO mechanical fasteners and no holes in the boat bottom.

If you go to our web page, www.oceapoly.com you can see the installation video on an AB aluminum hard bottom inflatable.

If you want to see some action video's of our OceaPoly on the bottom of a shallow draft boat, go to YouTube, SJX River Jet Boats

Call me any time if you have any questions.

Thanks

Blinker does it hold up any better the than regular UHMW poly I any using now. Where I fish is extremely rocky - sharp limerock and oysters, I get 3 maybe 4 years out of a piece of 3/8" poly

Do you know the brand of poly your using? What is the length and width of the poly you buy?
Have you ever snagged and ripped out any of the mechanical fasteners holding the poly on your boat?
Do you see more ware of your poly between the fasteners? This would be caused by the poly getting hot and expanding.
If none of these issues have been a problem if it was my boat I would move up to 1/2" thick material because of the lifestyle abrasion factor
Give me a call anytime. I would be happy answer any question and give you a quote foron our bonded OceaPoly UHMW polymer.

TSE's Product 80x240 but my hull is only 14' and fairly beat-up there are a number of patches and dents on the bottom. Back 4-5 gets the worsts of it.
I know most of the creeks I fish very well but I could swear the rock move lol.

I have snagged a few screws and bent them but never pulled one out.

Do you sell the poly sheets?

Blinker, for reference, what is the price of one sheet of 3/8", 4'x10' ?
No shipping included. Thanks
Cost related to one (1) sheet of 3/8” X 4’ X 10’ Sheet of OceaPoly.

Bagging Film 10.00
TOTAL $1,391.00

OTHER ITEMS USED FOR INSTALL
Yellow Tape $5.00 per roll 25' long

Yes, we have inventory at my installer's location in Vero Beach Florida and a installer network across the south.
We have rejuvenated many used jetboats and airboats with OceaPoly. What you do is pound out the dents as best you can and weld up any holes. Then its best to sand blast the hull to get the best surface for bonding.
If the dent is still deep, I spread a coating of the Plexus MA590 adhesive in the dent then with several aluminum platelets, fill the dented area even with the surface of the hull.
At that point I cover the whole bottom with a layer of the Plexus MA590, like frosting a cake. Then apply the OceaPoly and vacuum bag it in place.
The combination of a vinyl ester resin coating the Kevlar / fiberglass fabric that is imbedded into the the UHMW provides more stiffness, impact resistance and cut resistance than mechanically fastened polymer. The Plexus MA 590 has a elongation facture of over 100%. The OceaPoly lap shear bond strength is 1058 pounds per square inch.
The enclosed photo is a boat I did in Fairbanks Alaska around 2008 and I know it stayed in operation for many years.

This product worked super on one of my hulls that blinker installed .
The hull was so bent up you only saw the runners leaving marks when you drive down a dirt road. When we applied the adhesive it was spread level on hull to fill in low spots between runners. Came out as smooth as the brand new hull we did at same time. Boat used to porpoise real bad, now none at all. Fastest I went in boat was 64 mph on GPS in open water and ran flat and true , no trim tab.

Very interesting info TDARR
Glad to see you posting and hope you are doing well!

Is your product installed on your hull 4’ wide or is it wider with a longitudinal seam down the center of the hull?

Thank you for the response. If it covered the hull in the picture it would do ok with mine.

Tdarr my hull is similar to what you described but with 23 patches plus a few rewelded spot.

Cowboy, The two hulls I have it on are both sled hulls. One Wardaddy and Benny Webb. Both stop at sides and have seam on Wardaddy that we welded down center front to rear. Both have it all the way up to grass rakes. My third boat is 13 ft. Palm Beach hull and was going to put it on hull when getting pricing and planing build I ran across new hull that was built and person desided not to finish. It already had riveted poly on it. If I ever wear it out I am putting Oceapoly on it also and have it come up sides needed on Palm Beach Hulls. Got brand new hull for cheaper that what I had priced for aluminum to build it myself.

So if putting poly on a new hull its roughly a little more than twice the cost of a traditional poly install,,, but you're not putting any holes in the bottom of your hull and it will last a bit longer since it can wear down to the hull surface vs the hardware. If you can manage the extra cost it seems worth it to me.

Do you have contact info for your installer in Vero or closer to central FL?

deckover,

You nailed the basic question. Sometimes I do have to replace worn down rivets. It's not much of an issue for me with the tools, more so for others. But mostly my poly wears out at the edges and when the edges are gone it's time to replace regardless of attachment, otherwise the hull disappears quickly. I am skeptical that the material itself wears better than any other UHMW.
