What can somebody tell me about this stuff, I have never used it, looking for some input, looks way better than using standard poly!
Thanks, Chris
Thanks, Chris
TSE's Product 80x240 but my hull is only 14' and fairly beat-up there are a number of patches and dents on the bottom. Back 4-5 gets the worsts of it.Do you know the brand of poly your using? What is the length and width of the poly you buy?
Have you ever snagged and ripped out any of the mechanical fasteners holding the poly on your boat?
Do you see more ware of your poly between the fasteners? This would be caused by the poly getting hot and expanding.
If none of these issues have been a problem if it was my boat I would move up to 1/2" thick material because of the lifestyle abrasion factor
Give me a call anytime. I would be happy answer any question and give you a quote foron our bonded OceaPoly UHMW polymer.

I know most of the creeks I fish very well but I could swear the rock move lol.
I have snagged a few screws and bent them but never pulled one out.
Do you sell the poly sheets?
Thank you for the response. If it covered the hull in the picture it would do ok with mine. One Eyed Gator
Yes, we have inventory at my installer's location in Vero Beach Florida and a installer network across the south.
We have rejuvenated many used jetboats and airboats with OceaPoly. What you do is pound out the dents as best you can and weld up any holes. Then its best to sand blast the hull to get the best surface for bonding.
If the dent is still deep, I spread a coating of the Plexus MA590 adhesive in the dent then with several aluminum platelets, fill the dented area even with the surface of the hull.
At that point I cover the whole bottom with a layer of the Plexus MA590, like frosting a cake. Then apply the OceaPoly and vacuum bag it in place.
The combination of a vinyl ester resin coating the Kevlar / fiberglass fabric that is imbedded into the the UHMW provides more stiffness, impact resistance and cut resistance than mechanically fastened polymer. The Plexus MA 590 has a elongation facture of over 100%. The OceaPoly lap shear bond strength is 1058 pounds per square inch.
The enclosed photo is a boat I did in Fairbanks Alaska around 2008 and I know it stayed in operation for many years.
So if putting poly on a new hull its roughly a little more than twice the cost of a traditional poly install,,, but you're not putting any holes in the bottom of your hull and it will last a bit longer since it can wear down to the hull surface vs the hardware. If you can manage the extra cost it seems worth it to me.Cost related to one (1) sheet of 3/8” X 4’ X 10’ Sheet of OceaPoly.
