Congrats on the boat and welcome to the forum but I gotta tell ya ,"Ya ain't gonna be worth a damn now". Life as you once knew it is history.

It's gotta Lycoming in it .....ya can't go wrong :thumbleft:

The engine is worth the $4500 alone. Even if it needs work that O-360 is a great engine. The extra 12 bucks for the boat and trailer ain't bad either. I think you have a nice ride. You sure bought it right.

THANX GUYS, I WILL PROBABLY HAVE A LOT OF ROOKIE QUESTIONS TO POST ON THIS FORUM AS WELL AS SOME HUMOROUS STORIES ABOUT TEACHING MYSELF HOW TO DRIVE THAT SUCKA!!!

Find ya some skinny water and drive it like ya stole it and hang on .
Almost better than sex.
Before ya know it you'll lose the cultured part and just be a good old natural born redneck.

If you have never run airboats before, get with someone who knows, and get them to show ya the ins and outs. You can get hurt or tear your boat up if you dont have at least some guidance in the beginning.

Looks like ya got the right combination to me. Sweet ride, should be a great frogger too.

Be sure ya got all the legal stuff on board.

Scotty

WE ALL THE SAME HERE NO FOOLISH QUESTIONS HERE ! JUST SOME ARE FUNNIER THAN THE OTHER S ! WELCOME ABOARD REDNECK !

K-mac has it about right. O-360s is hard to beat. Good for froggin, good for playin and good for cruisin.

Sounds like a good deal. I just got my first airboat last month. 200hp Lycoming and 11' 8" Gillio hull. Find someone to run it with or at the least VERY shallow water until you get some stick time. I got a Warpdrive on mine now and some new Flex pipe etc. Enjoy it!

THANX FOR ALL THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK! SO FAR THE CONCENSUS SHOWS
" FIND SOME SHALLOW WATER AND PRACTICE STARTING AND STOPPING"
I BELIEVE THAT IS SOUND ADVICE!! I LIVE ABOUT AN HOUR FROM ANAHUAC, TX. AND THE MUDFLATS THERE ARE MASSIVE. I THINK THAT IS WHERE IM GOING TO SPEND MOST OF MY TIME WITH IT, UNLESS OF COURSE I FIND SOMPLACE BETTER. IN FACT, ON THE WAY TO ANAHUAC, I PASS A PLACE THAT SELLS JETSKI'S AND THEY HAVE A PRETTY GOOD SIZED POND OUT BACK FOR TEST DRIVES AND RACES AND SUCH. I MIGHT HIT THEM UP FOR THE USE OF THE POND FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. THAT WHOULD BE THE SAFEST OPTION BY FAR. I LIVE IN HOUSTON TX. SO IF ANY OF YOU GUYS KNOW OF ANOTHER GOOD SPOT TO PRACTICE, IM ALL EARS!!!

looks like a fine starter boat to me. Make sure you go over the boat entirely before your first trip and if you can make a friends with someone locally that knows boats try to talk them into looking it over for you. Make sure the prop is in good shape, welds are solid and every screw and nut is tight before even listening to it run in your driveway.
Then do some searching on this website for just starting out knowledge. That boat looks like it will be pretty easy to drive. The big things are make sure you keep enough throttle left over to power out of hairy situations (airboats need power to turn and stop if your holding the throttle down and you need to turn quickly you'll move the rudders but the boat won't go). That combined with letting off the throttle when in a tricky situation are probably gonna be your biggest hurdles. Just remember if you feel your nuts creeping to your throat and your palms start to sweat give it throttle!
I see you mention mud flats..  remember airboats will glide over alot but they don't like mud. trying to unglue the suction between a mudflat and the bottom of your boat may have you thinking about a new hobby.
Have fun and welcome to the sickness!! :D

THANKS FOR SOUND ADVICE!! IM GOING TO GO OVER IT WITH A FINE TOOTHED COMB. THERE IS SOME PLACES ON THE RIGGING THAT I HAVE FOUND TO BE RUSTED OUT. IT DOESNT SEEM TO BE IN A CRITICAL SPOT, BUT OF COURSE IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED FROM GETTING ANY WORSE. THE PROP LOOKS GOOD TO ME. I WILL LOOK AT IT AGAIN BUT CLOSER...

If you have rusted through places in your rigging, I would consider new rigging. You can fix the places you CAN see but what about the places ya can't see.

In my humble opinion it is far better to take a bit longer and spend a bit more and KNOW you have a safe boat. Spend a few days spending your time not your money first. Pick and poke everywhere on that rigging and motorstand.

The life you save could be your own. Sounds so Safety Council ISH. Guess there is merrit to it though.

Good luck, nice boats.

Scotty
