Hey ya'll,

Wanted to throw this one out for the members. We don't have much time as the registration started 3/1/06 and there are very few open spots left. For those of you who would like for your child to go, please scroll down to the available/open spots on the "Pine Jog" website link below to verify an open spot for the age of your child.

The child must submit a short, (less than one page, couple of paragraphs) essay/story why they would like to go to the camp. Parents can help with this but should be the childs thoughts, (show them the website link below). Keep in mind that travel to the camp, (being dropped off). And from the camp, (being picked up) must be provided by the parent.

Paid for by member generated funds from a seperate account. I'll be the first to donate!
My son had went a few years ago and had a blast, (age from 8-17, male or female).

I'm in also.

With that narrow time frame, we could collect with "Site Support" like we did for the flower arrangement a couple of weeks ago if ya'll want to. That way credit cards could be used also. We can even pass out some more stars at the same time.

Come on folks lets get behind this. It a chance to make a difference for someone this summer.

hey ya'll,

The funding seems to be there for the one weeks stay for a child. Please click on the above link to the camp to see if your child will qualify, (age and boy or girl).

The transportation to and from the J.W. Corbitt Wildlife Management Area (Everglades Youth Camp) must be provided by the parent. The child must be dropped off on a Sunday and picked up the following Friday, (please also look at the link).

If my memory serves me correct the child must have a short medical history completed by a qualifying physician to verify healthy status for boating, hiking, etc.

PLEASE SOMEONE JUMP IN HERE WITH A CANDIDATE/CHILD! My son had a blast there and it is an awesome place!

Maybe someone should give the camp a call to see if they know of someone who needs there way paid. Most of the time these places do. Something to think about.

Dakota,

This idea was discussed during the chat on Tuesday night. I will make one "last ditch" effort to recruit one of our own this weekend at the lake cleanup.

After that Southern Airboat could sponsor any child already registered.
the camp is really a cool place with swimming, canoeing, Florida environment education and lots of other activities for a week.

The money's there for one young person. I'm glad to hear we have a backup plan if we don't find one real quick basketcase.

I think someone mentioned sending a hat & shirt in the chat on Tuesday night. I'm all for that too, just need to know where to ship them or if someone's gonna hand deliver them.

Hey ya'll,

With a little help from Mr. Danny Brantley and the KRVSA we found a child who Southern Airboat will sponsor for the 2006 Everglades Youth Camp at J.W. Corbitt WMA.

He is a 9 year old boy from Okeechobee and his grandmother was really excited about the oportunity for this to happen for him.

The possibility was discussed for this to be an annual Southern Airboat event that would be on the schedule for next year.

Thank you all for all the help and support to make this happen :hello1:

We, (Southern Airboat) all rock as a whole! When we're not arguing about the color of the sun :(

No confirmation of the completed registration of "our kid" yet.

I'll try to keep ya'll advised when I know more.
